i have had this mini only 3weeks it woorked find till the last ecm an now i was tryin 2 put the new patch on wen it wouldnt read the ubs can some 1 plz help me

can some 1 help me plz . how come it is taking so long 4 some 1 2 help . i have all ready done a hard reboot still the same . i have try use another ubs still not reading wat else can i do . only hard this box 3 weeks

how big is ur usb thumbdrive,, did u make sure it was formatted to fat32 ? i think u can do that in ur box,,if not u can do it on ur computer,,,if its already formatted to fat32,,make sure u unzipped the bin file,,b4 u put it on the stick,,then try loading it

its a 2g but i use this same ubs 2 program it 3 weekds ago wen i got.

delete the file u got for it,,and redownload the file,,unzip it,,and stick it on ur drive,,,and try again

i didnt realize u had used it b4 on ur box,,till after u told me u did,,,there are 2 main kind of file storage systems,,one is fat32,, it was developed for win98 and is quite popular system,,then winxp came out,,and they upgraded fat32 system and called it ntfs ,,, ntfs isnt supported by ur box,,but fat32 is,,since u have used it on ur box b4,,that cant be the problem,,, has to be something else,,,ur sure ur getting a good bin file ? maybe write down the name of the file ur trying to load,,i will see if its the same one i got,,, and let u know,,here this is the file that is the one u need,,does urs look like this :

0321_0923.zip

unzipped ,,it should look like this :

0321_0923.exx
exx file
256 kb

you need to factory default first then it will read the patch.
our normal cnx experts are not around currently. sorry for the delay.

Arbor is on the right track, if your usb worked befor it should work again! Do the factory default and start from the beging. Sometimes you have just got to start fresh. Iknow its a pain, but in my experience 9 out of 10 times this will work!

I downloaded 0320_0923.exx. Is that why the unit doesn't react at all? HELLPPP !!!

this is the latest patch:

and to factory default the stb so that the unit reads the patch on your usb stick:
press menu-utility-factory default.
when the Unit reboots.go back into usb and you will then see the patch.press ok as normal.

save your list to usb stick first tho so you can just load it back after.
otherwise you will need to setup and rescan again.

Sorry, it's me again..... Thanks for all the info!
I've followed everything above but my CNX-Mini still cannot read my new patch in my USB device. Before, when I first inserted the USB device, my CNX-Mini would blink a few times and would then show the content in it. Now, it's not blinking at all!!!

Is it because I've converted my Maxtor device from FAT32 to NTFS file and that's why my Mini doesn't recognize any USB device or any device at all? If that's the case, is there something that I can do to correct this or am I doomed??? HELLLLLPPP !!!

that is correct.
now you have introduced a new problem.
the cnx mini will only read your usb memory stick in FAT32 format.
this is your new reason why the cnx is not reading your stick.

what size stick is this? and what other uses does it serve?
you can just grab a little cheapy stick at wally word or something and use this for your updates.

My USB device has 60M. With all the agony of trying to fix the problem for the past 2 days, I might have converted my USB device in NFTS file without knowing. Tomorrow, I will buy another USB flash and try it out again to download the patch.

My USB has my CV and Word documents and some pix on it. It has been very reliable up until I introduced the Maxtor device in NFTS file to my CNX unit. Suddenly, my CNX Mini doesn't recognize my USB device anymore (because I might have inadvertently converted in NFTS file). Gee.... it sounds like a love triangle!!!

Anyhow, I will go get a new USB flash drive tomorrow and see what will happen?

P.S. : Are USB devices already in FAT32 originally? I remember I didn't have to format anything on my current one.

oh i see.
so in other words,you really have no reason to keep your usb in NFTS format at all.
well the thing is,when you format your stick,it deletes all info from it.
so the fact you claim your mini worked in the past,yet also claim it still holds info you had on it,and also claim its in NFTS is confusing.

at any rate.despite whats going on lol.do the following:
1.plug usb stick into pc.
2.open to view the root of the stick.
3.right click and select properties.
4.post the file format you see.(continue the steps anyway lol)
5.copy everything from your stick to a new folder on your pc.
6.with everything saved! double check your new folder you just created,and insure it holds the info from your stick.navigate to "my computer",seek your usb device.right click on it,and select format.
select FAT32,
select quick format,
and start.
7.once complete,load your new folder back onto your stick.(the one you copied previously to your pc.)
load your cnx files.
8.place device in cnx and update.
