Re: Trying to get European Channels..PLEASE HELP!
Only option is to go for True FTA. For which you will need at least a 30 to 39" dish and a Linear LNB. Tune to Satellite 123W and you can use your receiver as well.

Re: Trying to get European Channels..PLEASE HELP!
True FTA are Free Program Satellites. No charges. Also any receiver with the Factory file can pick up the programing. In other words, if you have already a third party bin on your receiver, thats OK. You can still pick up all the channels available on that satellite.

I believe VGiddy meant Galaxy19 97W for International channels, including European. I'm using a Hughesnet/Direcway dish to receive that sat. Check your local Craigslist for freebies.

Re: Trying to get European Channels..PLEASE HELP!
97W is for International but mostly Arabic stations. But I do know that 101W (AMC4) is carrying Dutch stations.

Re: Trying to get European Channels..PLEASE HELP!
So i've decided to get this package but instead of going with a 36" dish i'm gonna get a 39"
I'm going to be using my VS2000 and i have a question.
Since i'm gonna be using a motor on my dish...how exactly would i set all this up on my Viewsat receiver.
For example. the TP Frequencies, how to scan, etc
I have NO CLUE where to start or what to even put on my recevier.
Please help me out. Thanks

Re: Trying to get European Channels..PLEASE HELP!
For "European" programming, you're pretty limited to the channels on 97w
Any Euro sats will not be visible from this side of the world.
Take a look at lyngsat dot com and the Ku band channels on 97w
BTW, any sats ending with "East" are on the other side of the world and not visible to you/us (Example: "Hotbird 6 @13E")
You are likely in the 55w-148w range like most of us.
There may be some Russian and Polish programming on 97w, but not much. Most of the programming is Arabic.
To get FTA sats, you'll need a 33" or larger dish, a Linear LNB, possibly a motor, and to configure your antenna settings to match your hardware.
Before investing in a new dish and an LNB, I would take a look at the available programming to see if it meets your needs before spending the money.
And do some reading and research. Lots of it.

Re: Trying to get European Channels..PLEASE HELP!
You'll need to set your Dish/Motor to "True South"
The easiest way to do this is to determine at what time the sun rises and then sets at your location.
Split those times in half.
At that time, the Sun is at True South for your location.
Manually turn your dish/motor assembly by hand straight at the sun at this time.
Adjust dish and motor elevation according to specs.
Motor Elevation will match the Latitude for your location.
Check with the dish maker for the offset so you can correctly adjust the dish elevation.
Your motor should now be near perfectly set. You may need to slightly tweak for peak signal, but this is by far the easiest way to hit "True South" and the most accurate.
Try to hit the sats furthest East and furthest West in your Arc.
If they are dead on, great. If not, slightly adjust your dish (not motor) elevation until they are.
After that, you should be able to hit every sat available to you in your arc.
I would also recommend an Invacom Quad LNB that allows you to get both Linear and Circular sats with one LNB, a quality Diseqc switch such as a Chieta HD, and a quality motor like the DG-280
Setting up a motor can be a challenge, but it's worth it once it's done and the above instructions will make it much easier.
Good luck, and read, read, read then read some more.
Mount your motorized dish in an easily accesible area as it will take some time the first time to get it right.
You don't want to be climbing up and down a ladder 20x a day to get it right.
Using the sun to find True South, I can hit it pretty much dead on every time.
