help with vspro,sg2100,4x1 diseqc,winegard 30", qph031 setup
trying to setup the above and have a couple dozen ??? . what diseqc setting do i use in my vspro i have 1.0 and 1.1 ? the motor is an digipower sg2100 diseqc 1.2 compatable, vspro manual says it has 1.2 but i don't have a listing for it. had started sat search my center of arc is .6 degrees east of 91W. tune that and 110w 119w then motor went back to 91W and will only move W or E about 1 degree and stops. tried resetting motor, pushng limits off( just in case it was pushed), manual button moves dish the same amount about 1 degree. so motor guru please help, i can send motor back but would rather not if its all me, but broke is broke. thanks in advance

Re: help with vspro,sg2100,4x1 diseqc,winegard 30", qph031 setup
you can go to the dish pointing menu and navigate through the satellite selection and the motor wont move.
Remove your diseqC 4 x 1 switch
run the stb cable straight to the motor.
run a l cable from the output of the motor to your switch input, then from the output of the switch run 1 port to linear 1port to circular on the qph031.
you dont need your old fixed dish anymore but if you want to, you can connect to the remaining ports to it
if when you are setting up your dish all you need is the switch port number dont worry about the 1.1 and 1.2 stuff unless you are stacking switches...I think
when scanning satellites you need to divide satellites that have both circular and linear transponders into separate satellites. reason being the LNB and switch setup, remeber 1 port for linear 1 for circular. It doesn't happen much but there are some unencrypted goodies on the circular birds worth getting.
Most sat positions are divided anyway into c and Ku bands. You can edit the C-band into a circular sat if you need to. Or add a sat. my coolsat has 4 user defined satellites I can edit as I see fit.
Key to editting a satellite if you have a blind scanner...delete everything but the strong transponder you used to lock in the satellite. Blindscan will find all it can see. If it misses some you can manually scan those few missed transponders.

Re: help with vspro,sg2100,4x1 diseqc,winegard 30", qph031 setup
back to your question. make sure you save your position when you lock in signal.
To find new satellites,
go to the dish setting menu and enter the correct info like
10750 for the LNB freq
port 1 on your diseqc 4x1 (if thats where you connected the linear lnb)
a strong transponder freq/polarity/symbol rate
save that info then.....
tune to a satellite that you have locked in already
go to the dish pointing menu. you should still be on your satellite you were just watching.
navigate through the menu to the satellite you want to get
move the dish in the direction of your new satellite.
the signal should spike if you set your transponder right. (some are beamed too, choose a conus transponder)
fine tune the position till its peaked signal. make sure you save your position when you lock in signal ( i said that twice, its important)
Manual scan transponder if you have time, but a blindscan works nice unless you are near circular crap, then it shoots up all kinds of triple channel garbage.
