Is this usual?
My coolsat has been down for 30 hours now. I'm just wondering if this is usual?
I'm not complaining about this forum or anything. I don't wanna start my first post off like that. This place is awesome, it has been mega helpful in getting my system up and running and keeping it like that. I know it's not the Admins' fault for it taking so long, and I'm not complaining about it doing so. I get that for something like this, there has to be certain sacrifices.
I'm just wanting to know if it's commonplace for the system to take so long to get back up.
Sorry if I seemed a tad defensive about all of this. I just don't want anyone to think I'm less than grateful for the people that work on a site like this.

Re: Is this usual?
we fully understand your frustration. your allowed to vent . not a problem. coders have not put out a bin yet . the last bin for your receiver is 3 days old. there was an ECM & we are still waiting for a bin file for your receiver. thanks for being easy going. and thank you for being part of our site.

Re: Is this usual?
Many of us, in this hobby, have more than one receiver, so that if you experience a bit of down time with one the other can step in and pick up the slack. Something to consider while you are down.

Re: Is this usual?
I've got a CS 7100, CS 6100, CS 5000, CS 4000 and a CW 700. The CW is up more than the CS. I still love my CS but, the bin support is not as good as used to be. We can't complain because this is a hobby and you have to take the good with the bad. I've noticed the Sonicview didn't go down with this latest ECM. It was the lone receiver to survive the ECM. I'm going to wait until N3 is no longer a threat and perhaps look into one of their receivers. Maybe a HD version. The CS has probably the best picture and EPG of all the receivers that I've seen. Be patience and like the rest of us...sit back ride out the storm with the CS. I'm going to watch my CW until then.

Re: Is this usual?
welcome aboard buddy
coolsat is usually one of the last models to come out with new files
it would probaly be a good idea after the nag3 switch over and the new files start coming out to get another brand as a backup

Re: Is this usual?
I have a cs 8100. This is the first time in awhile that I have had to wait for a bin to come out. Frustrating, yes, but I watch reg. tv or movies and sit and wait. Thanks to all the coders out there and sites like this one, keeping us informed. Thanks guys.

No, it is not usual.
The CoolSat Team has hired new coders & support group and this is the first time we have had such a delay.
They have started supporting all their older units.
We have been having some problems with the CS4000, so maybe they are addressing the same issues with other CS models?
My SonicViews never skipped a beat, but you never know what the next day holds.
Generally, we go about a week on a fix, but they hit us in just 3 days this time.
I expect to see bins released soon.
Remember that CoolSat has been around 2nd longest of any FTA manufacturer.

Re: Is this usual?
Several people here mentioned Sonicview did not skip a beat while Coolsat (and others) have been down for a long time. This is true as I have both. What I don't understand why SV was NOT effected by the ECM. Is it just luck or is SV bin more robust and its coders anticipated future ECMs?

Re: Is this usual?
The files are only as good as the coding team ... Team Sonicview has proved themselves as SOLID many, many, many times over <with the odd bump here and there> just like the majority of other teams.

I would need to be a coder to answer that question...but I'm not.

Re: Is this usual?
Hey. Thanks everyone, that was what I was wanting to know. And thanks for the information, as well.
I was thinking about getting another receiver for another television in the house, and in case something like this happens again I think I'll go with a different brand. I'm actually quite fond of the CoolSat, aside from a few minor things, but it looks like the SonicView 360 might be a good choice to go with, too.
Once again, thanks for all the input and info, everyone.
