Could be a codec issue, try downloading and using the VLC player available free online. It should play it if it is a codec issue on your computer.

Re: report your pvr results here.
I am using WinXP.
I tried both nfpvrwin and nFusion IPPVR.
nfpvr wins hands down.
It does not lock up the picture on the stb and plays in my regular WMP.
With IPPVR I could stop the recording with the remote but the file on the pc would not play because it said it was in use until I exited the prog and tried again.
No prob with nfpvrwin.

Re: report your pvr results here
While it technically works, I do have a lot of bugs.
1. The rec icon stays on the screen the entire time.
2. The record option causes many blips...
3. It keeps recording over the previous recorded file, no matter what the name.
XP Pro...

Re: report your pvr results here
stu1705:
Your receiver does not have the capability of understander the broadcast signal sent out by your norton's firewall program, therefor it can't be read. However if you go into your router configuration web page (192.168.1.1) you should see the stb's IP address. Just make sure you make sure that your computers ip address that you are going to record to is the PVR server address in network information on the receiver. Keep in mind that you are probably using DHCP assigned addresses and this can change anytime i.e. power failure.

Re: report your pvr results here
I can't start a new thread for some reason but this is related to nfpvrwin. Well I've tried both pvr's and can't get either to work. I have the settings correct I am sure. I have a router which connects my laptop which I want the files to record to and my nfusion solaris.
I have set my laptop as the pvr ip address in the menu settings and made sure that it is the correct ip. I hit record and I get the 'cannot connect to 192.168.x.x'. I decided to sniff my network packets to see what error I was getting with wireshark and it comes up as a Unreachable Port ICMP error. I double checked my firewall setting and made sure to forward the correct port which is 50000 UDP. I restarted my router and still get the same error. I am stuck =/
I can't create a new thread for some reason so if someone would help me in this thread or create a new one for me I would appreciate it.

Re: report your pvr results here
This is my experience with recording on the Solaris. It is connected by ethernet to a Core 2 Duo PC via a Dlink 524 router.
IPPVR works, but is simply too unreliable. It always randomly crashes....sometimes within a minute; other times, it might crash after 10 or 15 minutes. I have no idea what causes the crash. I've tried both IPPVR 3.0 beta, as well as the IPPVR HD 1.5 Beta. Both were equally unstable.
So I switched to nfpvrwin 0.0.5. The program was stable - I recorded about 90 minutes the other night without a problem. However, as reported by someone else, once you start recording, what's displayed on the TV becomes out of sync (audio/video). It drifts out to several seconds, so it's pretty unwatchable. However, the recorded file on your PC does not have sync issues. It does have a lot of audio and video glitches though. I would say every 60 seconds or so, the audio would glitch. It's not totally unwatchable, but definitely annoying.
Hopefully, with a few more software revisions, we can have our nFusions working properly as PVRs.
Cheers,
