i don't have one but i got a chance to play with one this past weekend.found it by accident , a co-worker was a little disgruntled from his dave reception , and the lack of caring from anyone.he simply needed some alignment help , rain fade was bad.after tweaking we went inside to see the results on screen.that is when i noticed the captain , he let me take it for a test ride.for the past two years i have been a captiveworks fan and was considering upgrading to the CW700.now i find myself leaning towards the captain , the menu and picture is better than my CW600.the user controls is very friendly and appears to have a larger processor , very fast. i have never tested the CW700 so i can't compare the two head to head.besides as you know it is better to have as many differant brands as possible.anyway within the month i will hopefully know all about it.

Re: how do like the 7100?
ah,i sneeky this over where it belongs lol i was hijacking a thread in coolie section. oops.
yeah,i see exactly what you mean.
price is about the same.
thats a tough choice.
i also am a HUGE CW fan.
yup, this one has a couple advantages.firstly, the quality of the unit as you notice is high.
and sweet remote.
the pic quality is no doubt better than cw's (not that cw's is bad either) just this thing is super crisp, like you noticed.
the OBS is cool.tho for advanced tester like you,you probably wont use it.and even if you do,you don't need it.
for new guys tho, they will love that.so dang easy.have you tried that out? must have.shes fast!
200 mhz chips are sweet buddy.
64 mbs of ram also.
9 day epg.
favs only in the epg!-one of cw's flaws.
i love cw's search by name.but i like the captains better.i like those results clean in the epg.and i like that icon screen.
tough choice! and of course we know that cw support.
tough call.
the captain is better i think.only support can determine which is best really.
for you tho, since you already have a cw.
yeah man.grab this thing.
support has been "good" and lately "great" with the rest of them this past month.

Re: how do you like the 7100?
yeah i am going with the captain , earlier today i found myself reading your review "very good by the way".i see now why it seemed fast 200MHz that is larger than my first three computers.i really like the fact about the 8 favorites and holding if i remember right 50 each.i also like the ability to load the one day epg.that is one of my many pet peeves searching through the oodles of channels just looking for anything.then all of a sudden its there an episode of junk yard wars you haven't seen .quickly you hit the ok , take me there ,then you are watching a blue screen oh so slooowly load up the epg.with the ability to load a 1 day and a 200 chip bam won't even miss the opening intro.yeah who knows what tommorow will hold but i am gonna go ahead and try it.by the way are they clone safe? don't see many selling the captains.p.m. me if you have a good place.i didn't see them on ftapros. hate to go the fleabay route.thanks again

Re: how do you like the 7100?
what do people know that i don't , where is everybody at.people should be dancing in the streets over this news.an iks solution for every captain box.yeah i read you post about the dongle.do you know what all birds , providers the IKS works on now? what diseqc commands ,will it handle the emp 8X1? 200 channels and all the ppv , working right now with more to come.looking at the specs the 7100 USB will handle any switching , lnb combos you could throw at it unlike my nfusion.i also am luving the do it then talk about vibe i'm getting here.i have to find a place to buy this before they are out of stock , daddy's gonna get a new toy!!!

Re: how do you like the 7100?
i know man,you know why.its because the captains are still not very well known yet.
once a few people try these out.especially those with other units to know just how good they are compared to others, people will start taking more notice.
its easy for you and i.cus we see and understand the specs.
you wait, once a handful get ahold of these,we should really start seeing some real noise about captains.
these things are kickin!

Re: how do you like the 7100?
well this baby rocks!!! I am impressed to say the least. It required all of fifteen minutes from start to finish to get up and running also half that time was changing out a chieta 1041 4X1 diseqc.I didn't even try the one button setup , I did use the four page setup guide in the help section though. The quality is very nice after three hours no heat build up at all.I downloaded the EPG for five days on 1200 channels it took about twenty minutes.Yeah I know should have edited first but really wanted to see how fast it would load.Of course the front loading usb port is nice to have. I also like the ability to control the channel rating and not just the channel number as with most cheap units. This has the best picture quality of a non HD unit I have seen. The remote really pleased me as well , the tv responds to it as fast as any unit I have seen and from acroos the room.It did take a while to roll , not bad but I was at first concerned that maybe I did something wrong. After all nothing ever is s | |
