Instructions on 2 40mm EXHAUST fan mod of the VS9000
Supplies needed; 2-40 mm fans(with 3 pin to 2 pin adapters), soldering iron, shrink tubing, wire strippers, solder, Phillips screwdriver, drill, drill bits, 1” electrical conduit hole punch, 4 screws for fans(#8 by ½”), lighter
1) Remove cover
2) Remove back plate(carefully) removing all screws (component hdmi svid usb coax) unplug rocker switch
3) Cut 12V line coming from the power supply to the main board about 1 ½” from the main board side
4) Strip both ends about ¼”
5) Take the 3 pin to 2 pin adapters and cut off the 3 pin side (do both of them) stripping all four leads about ¼”
6) Trist the two red leads from the adapter to the motherboard side to the 12V wire tinning it with solder
7) Tin the P.S. side of the wire then slide a ¾” piece of shrink tubing over it
8) Solder the two wires back together then slide the shrink tubing over the solder joint shrinking it with a lighter
9) Cut the GND right beside the 12V wire repeat steps 3-8 using the black wire from the adapter
10) Mark and install fans between the RCA jacks and the power cord (see pics)
11) Using a drill, drill a hole in each corner for the fans and install them using the #8 screws
12) Mark the hole to be cut on the inside with the fans installed with a felt marker
13) Remove fans and punch out holes with the 1” punch (or any thing you can think of the hole punch was the cleanest I could think of
14) Re-install fans assemble everything back together plug in fans and enjoy
Receiver went from warm(never HOT) to ice cold only draws 0.12 Amps and stays on as long as the main power sw is on

whisper quiet cant even hear it
warranty; as long as the fans dont cause the malfunction i bet it will still be under warranty as long as everything is done properly but im not worried about mine breakin down!
