VS9000HD V2 - Dual Tuner Upgrade.
Well by now most have seen the new Generation VS9000HD. A lot have asked what and why is there another tuner. Well on top of adding an internal fan to help keep the unit cool they have added a second satellite tuner. At present time this tuner will not work in conjunction with the first tuner (main). However it will still function. The first shipment was sent out without cables attached or included by mistake. The advantage of this added tuner is that in future firmware release it will allow the VS9000HD to be a true dual tuner HD PVR. Those who wish to use the add-on module will need to remove and replace this tuner. The Dual Tuner feature will also be available with the add-on module. This will make the VS9000HD the first true dual tuner HD PVR via firmware activation. Seems Viewsat is still on top of there game

Either the V1 or V2 will be able to function as a true Dual Tuner HD PVR once the firmware is available for it with either the Add-on module for dn or the V2s additional tuner it comes with.

The only differences between the V1 and V2 are the fan and the additional cheap tuner. You pay a premium to get in early... and I'm not only talking about TV, it's the same with everything. I have both a V1 and a V2 now. I could see how the V1 could easily be upgraded to be the same box as a V2 by the user. One hole to drill and a cheap fan to install. I don't know this for sure, but I would expect that when the firmware supports dual tuners you will be able to purchase that same 2nd qpsk tuner for a cheap price if you want one... I would expect that most are going to want the tuner that will get DN HD though, and the one that comes with V2 won't do that.... so, it's not like you're getting a much greater deal with the V2 box.

The V2 unit has the fan add on to prevent overheating. It was a big problem on the V1 units, especially if it was in and unvented cabinet. I still suggest standing the unit upright for maximum air flow. The add on card is simple to install, I have detailed pics of the install process. Can you verify that the main motherboards are the same?
If so, I agree that the dual tuner operation should work on both.
How would one get HD on both? Only one "extra hole" in back panel.

I have a V1 too and it is a real heater, just 2 weeks before V2 was available (great timing, huh!). Tried contacting support - no response. Finally fixed it by adding an internal baffle with fan that forces air flow through the unit. The only box modification is to add two vampire wire connectors to power the fan. Real cool unit now.

I do not have the HD module yet. Waiting to verify 9k is stable and can be serial loaded via a mac/linux computer.
What are the chances that the 9k will be a dual HD PVR/Receiver capable?

That is exactly what it means. Currently they are working on making this happen with channels on the same TP.

Re: VS9000HD V2 - Dual Tuner Upgrade.

Does anyone know when Turbo-Q will be added to the equation.
I get all HD transponders fine on 100 and they are all Turbo-8
But when trying to get HD from Anik F3 they are all Mpeg 4 Turbo-Q

Hope the coders add this soon

Re: VS9000HD V2 - Dual Tuner Upgrade.

Does anyone know when the dual Satellite tuner will be functional ? Also, has the code been developed to allow 1080P?
Thank you.
