How install a fan on VS9000HD without cutting.
c/p
Hi guys, I've found perfect way to decrease heat into box. Without cutting or destroying the cover !!! 1. I've found oryginal INTEL cooler for CELERON/PENTIUM III processor on socket370. I've removed mounting hooks from fan corners and it perfectly fits vent on VS9000 cover!!! The processor cooler has 3 cables for motherboard. Because we need only 2 cables (for 5V) I removed cables with pins from the plug, cut off one cable (which IS NOT ground or 5V) and insert pins into power plug on the mainboard. You don't need to cut original cables!!! The fan is sticked into cover vent using glue gun. As you can see on photos this is easy and neat. 2. I exchanged the hot sink from graphic chip on mainboard for a bigger one. This I used was taken from computer motherboard from main chipset. Because I'm using additional module I needed to bend it a little. Sorry guys.. no more pictures I made this for friend of mine and receiver is working now in his house... Cables from fan are just inserted into white plug. When you look at this plug you can see enough free space to slip this tiny cables. Black cable is ground and goes to pin 3 (GRND), yellow cable is +5V and goes to pin 1 (5V). Anytime you can pull out these cables and put in again :-) Just another tip. Take the white plug off the board. Behind the wires is a red piece of plastic. Unclip it and slide it out, this releases tension on the wires. Then slip your fan wires into the proper slots and reinsert the red clip. Now plug it back onto board. What a difference adding a fan has made. Hope it will help you to enjoy a cool Viewsat :-) -----big thanks to jurek-123-----
