How to fix pixelation on the VS 9000.
When I used the old GUI, I did not have pixelation at all. When switched to the New GUI, my box pixelated every few second. It was very frustrating watching HD like that.
The reason I and others are thinking it's due to the software and waiting for bug fix because every time I switched back to the old GUI, there's no more pixelation.
Ten days ago, I decided to use foil tape to isolate the ribbon cable that connected the 8PSK module with the motherboard. Folks, I couldn't be happier with the result! There's no more pixelation with my VS 9000. All D*** HD channels are perfect, not even a little dot for 10 days now.
Here how I did it:
- Remove the ribbon cable that connected the 8PSK module with the main board.
- Wrap the cable with Aluminum foil tapes (I bought the tapes from the local hardware supply store). I've wrapped it 3, 4 folds.
- Wrap electrical tapes around the foil tapes to cover it completely. I've wrapped a lot of it because I don't want the foil tapes short out to other components inside the unit.
Now I'm very happy with my VS 9000. (Love the New GUI!)
Thanks Arb!
That is a great little tip for that problem.
Maybe they (or someone aftermarket) offers a shielded ribbon that might fit that application?
It would be a logical upgrade.
Now that is what I call testing!

Hello everyone, I just got the viewsat9000Hd, installed and got it working, but the image is worse than a movie in the 1920s, would anybody have a suggestion or an idea what I may be missing? ... thank you so much!!
Hey arbor do you think it may be related to the ribbon? ... creative man!!

You can try using the RCA cables (red / white / yellow) which will give a better quality picture.
I hear the s-video out is even better yet.

HDMI all the way with hd stbs.
component is also good.
s-video/rca/coaxial should not be used with HD stbs.-your kinda throwing your $ away by not maximizing the highest connect type in general.but for high definition, its a must.
