well i wient to my dist guy the other day and got a new dish and while i was there he gave me a cw 700 he said he killed it well it just has a red light on in the front it will not go into boot node at all no pic on the tv etc.. i tried several times to see if i could get it to take a factory file fuse is good and before it doed the dist said he put in the serial and it said it was a good reciever (not a clone) then he said he flashed the newest bin

well what i think is he for got to load in the 192 or 195 you know the new one before loading the newer bins .. so anyways it is dead

i want to dsee if i can get this going so if anyone has one and know or has some hints on things i can try that would be cool .. i saw on ones site where i a guy replace some caps on it and he said it came back to life so i am going to try that on the weekend but .. throw some suggestions at me to try guys .. i have never had one so i am starting from scratch and just reading right now

thanks for all the help hopefully i is not dead ..

Re: cw s700 dead red light in front

Give this a shot. You can thank our friend Woodcreeker if it works.

1) Turn off receiver from power switch in the back.
2) Connect RS232 null modem serial cable.
3) Press and hold in power button on front of the receiver, while turning ON power switch on from the back. Keep on holding the front power button until it displays "Boot". You can now let go of the front power button.
4) Double click and run Loader v1.03.
5) Install bin file 1.90 from September 30, 2008.
6) Install bin 1.93 and make sure you read all of the release notes.
7) Be sure your serial number you enter is entered correctly. It is located at the bottom of your receiver on a sticker. Your serial number is also located on the Warranty card. If you have a 10 digit serial number, only enter the first 9 digits, omit the last number.
8) Do a Factory Default
9) Install the v1.95 bin file or the latest file.
10) Set everything back up and rescan.
10) Treat it as a completely new install so make sure and check that your patch is still enabled.

Re: cw s700 dead red light in front

I believe I have read of a story or two of blown caps in the CW receivers, but not many, it's not a common problem for them. Good luck.

Re: cw s700 dead red light in front

well i took out the old caps and replaced with new caps bigger and more powerful 1000fm 35v and it turn works good multimeetr reading perfect but still red light on the front ssosooooooooo it means that the rom chip is done in it....... i have tried it all only thing left to do is try and clear the eeprom on it . I will have to build a jtag and see if i can do it this will take some time but i am going to use it for a test machine and this is a far as this thread goes so i do not kill you guys with boredom on the stuff i am going to do if it works i will post all the setting you will use to clear the eeprom with wall .. then the problem will be getting the boot back in and a factory file
