Re: amc 18 105w
Where do you find this info? I was lookin around at lyngsat but don't see requirements.
So I suspose it will work tho with a big dish and c-band?
I'm lookin for somethin similar to point to when ol n3 comes around.
Any suggestions?

Re: amc 18 105w
when you look here.pink indicates C band:
North & South America - LyngSat
that's correct.a big dish and C band lnb will do the trick for the fta channels.

The available Ku Band channels on 105w are nearly non-existent.
Point your dish to 123w and connect to the Linear output of your Invacom Quad if you want to have some true FTA options when N3 comes along, or consider an Nfusion box as they have some channels on 91w up and running, and will probably have DN partially open when N3 is fully implemented.
Or both.

Re: amc 18 105w
I found these here but wondered is there a more up to date list?
http://www.abadss.com/forum/102-faq-...satellite.html
It put all the info somewhat simple for someone like me to figure out lol.
I'm slightly learning the lyngsat now I see the color codes at the bottom.
I still don't see how you know which size dish is required for each, or lnb besides c-band. all I know about that is C-band can require anywhere from 6' to 12' dishes.

Re: amc 18 105w
go to the bird your interested in.
for example, amc 18 @ 105w here ok:
AMC 18 at 105.0°W - LyngSat
up top click on maps, that will take you here ok:
AMC 18 at 105.0°W - LyngSat Maps
click on the beam your interested in.lyngsat only shows C band there.so click it,to take you here ok:
AMC 18 at 105.0°W - LyngSat Maps
now find your EIRP (dBW) for your location.and use the chart on the right for corresponding dish size ok?

Before you invest in a "BUD" (Big Ugly Dish) consider that many of the C-Band channels on 105w and other sats are encrypted and not opened up with FTA boxes.

Re: amc 18 105w
arboristman thanks so much. You Showed me exactly what I was looking for.
Didn't know what the Maps was, heck I barely noticed the link I had to look it over a couple times to find it. You last reply gave me exactly what I needed. I also understand the link you gave me for size conversion, and where to get the size.
As for the big ol dish I can't have one where I live anyhow as i'm smack dab in the middle of town. I may be able to get away with a 30-36".
My dad still has one though, even the old receiver. I know back when they had them it used to be free but they converted to pay.
Also I know c-band is encrypted but figured it wouldn't be any more difficult then n2. Back when the bud's where first encrypted it was short after people were selling modded receivers modules. So I guess what i'm wondering is if the fta boxes will do the Digicipher 2 ?
