FTA use for an RV Newbie ?
Hi everyone, I am new to this so please don't think my questions to be dumb. We have recently purchased an RV that came with a KingDome automatic satellite dish on the roof. According to KingDome website it is capable to receive the Dish and Dish HD signals (110, 119) and the standard DTV signals. With this said I was thinking of trying a FTA receiver as we currently have cable in the house. I have looked on this site and it seems that pepole like the Nfusion HD but it appears to have to be linked to the internet all the time (not an option in an RV). I also see that the Sonicview 800HD is popular and does not need a constant internet connection (I think). So as a noob here I am asking which of you may have done this for there RV and which receiver would you recommend. Further would you utilize the dome/dish from KingDome or would you go and mount something different. As a clarifier I am only trying to receive signals when we are parked and not when we are in motion. Thank you in advance to any and all that can help me out. Jim in CT.

Re: FTA use for an RV Newbie ?
I suggest for you to dump cable at home and subscribe to DTV. Tell them you need 2 boxes (one for home and one for the RV). I assume you have access to 110v in the RV? You can take one of the boxes on the RV for trips, and put it in another room of the house when you return from a trip. It only costs $5 for a 2nd box and with a commitment (2 years I think) you get equipment for free! I have done this and it works great! Plus you'll keep your locals when you travel. Not sure if they are spot beamed, but my locals work for me over 200 miles away from home. If your KingDome doesn't work, you can pickup a cheap dish from fleebay or here at Abadss and when your parked you can just do a quick setup.
Hope this helps you out, -cowpres |

Re: FTA use for an RV Newbie ?
We are in an RV with a Nfusion Phoenix. Yes you can use a FTA box but it takes a little work. There are posts under Nfusion of what you have to do. Basically you have to be on Wifi and turn your laptop/computer into a router and connect your computer to the Nfusion. Like is said search for post Wifi in the Nfusion section. You may wish not to get a HD box as it is hard enough getting the SD box up. Good luck it works!
