FTA=free to air.

Free to air channels are very fun to have,though not many of them are premiums and such,there still very interesting and enjoyable to have.These FTA channels remain up at all times and are not attacked by ecm’s as These channels are not encrypted.

A great starting point is 123w-G10r.

This bird requires a minimum of a 30″ dish.(depending on your location,it may be larger).

This can be determined here:

Use the map to get your DBW strength,and the corresponding chart to the right to determine the dish size required.

You will also need a linear lnb.

So what kind of channels are located on this satellite?

Note the band info to the right.Scroll down to KU band.(the C band requires a large 6 foot to 12 foot dish,C band is another topic).

As you can see there are some Foreign channels but most are English.We will focus on the English.

You can view an ABC,a FOX,and many RTN (retro tv network) some radio channels and more for some examples.

this should help you find 123w.
remember a 30" is required.and depending on your location,even larger may be needed.
so check or ask about this before buying a dish.
(provide your state or province when asking in a new thread please)

also a linear lnb is required.(unlike what dn/bev use for example)

general instructions:
(starting after the mast is level and plumb)
well personally i find it with no problems.making sure your antenna settings are correct and your on an active tp(like going for any bird) is the first step.(lyngsat.com will show you.tp 11800 is a commonly used tp to hit this bird)
if using a switch,set its port you plugged into.
for lnb freg use: 10750 (not the 11250 like dn/bev use)

setting the lnb skew(linear sats NEED skew adjusted) followed by elevation.
simply pan left/right and bam.if no luck,simply drop a degree and pan again,followed by a degree higher than your starting point and pan again.if still no luck follow above each way with 2 degrees followed with another pan left/right.
if all else fails,simply forget 123w and setup 121w and an active tp,and hit that as its very strong.once your there simply setup 123w/active tp and drop elevation just a tad and pan west a "nudge" and bam 123w.

remember,SLOW tiny LOVE taps when adjusting your dish.the window of quality readings is very smaller than going for dn/bev.so very important to pan left/right only a little tiny bit.if you think your close,you can actually tighten the bolts and "tweak" the dish in the direction you think you need to go.if you find it,loosen the bolts and adjust slowly.this little trick can help you greatly.
