Can't find 123w galaxy 18
Can not find 123w galaxy 18 for the life of me!!!
I have a mercury II with a 36in. Geosatpro dish using a universal linear lnb. I have a clear line of site. I can no longer measure the time I have tried to get 123w in hours anymore. I am into days now. I have gone to manual settings, using 11805 h 4580 and also 11800 v 26660. I have tried 10750 and 10600. I have tried standard and universal linear, I have tried my invacom quad. I'm running out of ideas, so I figured it was time to admit I need help!!! I am dead set on getting this puppy up and running. I have a tv next to the dish. I have a winegard birdfinder. I have patience. What I don't have is a frickin signal. Any help will be much appreciated.
I have no problem finding 82, 91, 101, 110, 119, 129.
I know it must be a settings issue, cause I believe I'm pointing right at 123w.
signal 88
quality 0
Thanks in advance

Are you using a motorized system or no? If not, I am thinking your problem is the LNB skew. That has to be correct. 4 of the 6 sats you mentioned 82/91/110/119 have a very strong signal so those are a lot easier to get than Galaxy at 123W.
Pick a transponder that you know is active.
Hope this helps.

Re: Can't find 123w galaxy 18
The dish is fixed. I am at 121 longitude and I have skewed the lnb plus 2 degrees. Although I was told that I wouldn't need to skew the lnb due to my long. being so close to 123w

Re: Can't find 123w galaxy 18
cool.thanks.
here ya go buddy:
Elevation: 44.5°
Azimuth (true): 183.7°
Azimuth (magn.): 168.8°
LNB skew: 2.9°
set your elevation.
set your skew.
set you stb on 123w ku.set the tp on 11800
slowly pan/left right.
you will have her inside 3-4 mins.
yes.skew and elevation are both very important like stated.
you MUST skew for linear birds.
lnb freq=10750
edit.yeah i see what you mean.skew is just a little tiny bit.

Re: Can't find 123w galaxy 18
I haven't been able to get 123 yet, either. I've been trying a BSC321 lnb, a BUDm a 31" Fortec & a Neo. I do think the lnb is bad.
I'm going to conference with Hypermeg ('conference' as a verb IS offensive isn't it )
get a new higher quality lnb & try again.

Re: Can't find 123w galaxy 18
I cannot receive Galaxy 18 as well, I'm located in Centennial, CO 80015-5113. How do I adjust my satellite to receive this feed. And when I adjust my satellite to do so, will I loose my other channels? I'm a newbie at these things. Thanks guys.

Re: Can't find 123w galaxy 18
I am at 122.6W so the sat is directly South, but it is weak especially after the Galaxy18 takeover.
Momentum59: The different satellites are orbiting above the Earth's Equator and changing the aim of your dish to receive a particular satellite will lose the channels you are presently receiving from whatever satellite you are aimed at. Just to clarify, having reception from one satellite does not give you access to all satellites or channels.

Re: Can't find 123w galaxy 18
also momentum59,to go along with DishCharlie,
if your planning on swinging a dish 500 over to 123w,you cannot.that dish is to small, and the lnb(s) are different.
