another attempt at 123 forthcoming
I snagged two CS 4000s for REALLY cheap bucks. So I should have blindscan ability now with good signal capability.
I'll have 123 yet & maybe more. The experiment continues!!!!!

Re: another attempt at 123 forthcoming
Those old boxes are great for true fta and wild feeds, no use for bins or anything make them great value. Plus the older coolsat models were very user friendly and the guides were also pretty good.

Re: another attempt at 123 forthcoming
bassist: I just locked on to G18 123W with S85 Q50 using a FSS/BSS LNB from a DN Superdish mounted on a DTV Slimline. It was much easier approaching 123W from 129W as the arc is less crowded. I first found G27 129W, confirmed reception of White Springs TV and marked the pole+dish mount. Then with a 1mm increment rotation east I found H1 127W with active transponders but no TV channels. The next Ku sat in the arc is 123W about 3mm rotation from 129W on the 50mm OD pole of the Slimline. That makes sense as: 50mm OD x 3.14159 = 157.0mm, 129-123=6, 6/360=0.01667, 0.01667x157mm=2.6mm
This started as an experiment to prove the obsoleted FSS-BSS linear LNB for 105/121W is indeed useful for FTA, and the near useless DTV Slimline can be salvaged.

Re: another attempt at 123 forthcoming
Thanks D.Charlie.
I have a new 2dB linear lnb coming as I am almost certain that the bsc321 I tried was not functioning correctly...
My two cs4000's did arrive, so I should be able to lock onto 123 asa I get a good lnb.
The HyperMegaSat dude said that the cs4000 & 5000 were great for tfta & that I should consider motorizing a dish using one of the cs4000.

Re: another attempt at 123 forthcoming
I'll try your technique DC.
I do have a DTV circular lnb coming also so I can spy the 129 position with that & my antique DN 3000 receiver, then replace that with the linear lnb and use a cs4000 & chirpy to when white springs.
I am really jonesing over being able to get some of the great series of my youth & (hopefully) being able to eventually snag wild feeds of football games.

Re: another attempt at 123 forthcoming
if your having alot of trouble try mounting a circular LNB on the dish and find echo 7 119W (which should be easy to find)
once you have found that mark your pole and elevation with a marker.....now change the LNB to a linear type.....
so now you know you just need to go slightly west and down a degree or two

Re: another attempt at 123 forthcoming
are there any good channels on the 123w thats are worth watching?, i've got 36" dish which was given to me by a friend is it worth getting a motor for dish this size?, could someone shed some light on how a motorized dish works say you wanna wacth 123w and 129 as well as some other fta bird would the motor itself locate the birds with simply tweaking the setting under the antenna setup menu or thats it require further adjusting?

123 has about 30 channels, fox and abc are some of the networks broadcasting on there.
A motor, if setup correctly, would automatically move your dish to different satellites when you change channels. The only thing you would notice is a slight delay in the channel coming up while the motor is moving. The technology used to position the motor is called USALS, just make sure your STB supports USALS and you are good to go.
