Going For 123W

I just got a 30" dish with a linear lnb and I was trying to catch 123W... Any suggestions on where I should be aiming... My zip code is 32164.

Re: Going For 123W

Is 123W a hard bird to catch? And is it close to DN119?

Re: Going For 123W

The sat at 119W plows in as opposed to the more subtle 123W in Pacific NA. At this time 123W Galaxy10 is hard to catch, but it is being replaced by the new Galaxy18 within the next 2 weeks, so signal strength is expected to be much better. I was using my 34" elliptical dish today to find 123W but had better luck with 101W and 97W. I prefer to use the "blind scan" function so I can get the current TPs and channels as opposed to the pre-programmed channels dictated by the software.

Check with lyngsat.com to make sure the sat you are looking for is actually transmitting to your location.

Re: Going For 123W

galaxy 10 at 123w has already been replaced with galaxy 18.

antenna settings:
lnb type: standard
lnb freq: 10750
diseqc or 22khz (depending on what your using, just assign it to the correct port.if running straight with no switch leave them off of course.
set the tp on 11800

set your skew.
set your elevation.
and lastly, set your azimuth (left/right) close with your compass.or just kinda pointed in same direction as your dish 500 119/110 is.it will be pointed slightly west more.
once you pan left/right with the above done, you should nail it inside 2 mins, provided your location calls for a 30" which i didn't look up.

Re: Going For 123W

Yesterday's experiments at finding sats were done with the linear FSS/BSS LNB from a DN Superdish mounted on a DT Slimline reflector. Using a $10 sat meter I found a lot of 2-degree spacing sats, but many of them had no NTSC broadcasts. The 9-degree spacing DBS sats at 91 and 110 tend to bleed over the weaker sats on either side of them, but a slight tone change from the sat meter followed with a blind scan can reveal a sat in the shadows. I did find G3 95W and G28 89W but they didn't have much to offer. The signal bars on my CS6100 were totally useless until the sat was found and scanned, so I would recommend getting a sat meter if you plan on doing a lot of hunting.

no luck yet! for 123

Preface: I do think my linear lnb is bad!

Here's what I did today using my new-to-me CS4000:

1) I connected the CS4000 to my nFuse's signal path & practiced using the blind scan & auto scan functions on both fast & detailed scan with 91,110 &119. I have to say, based on my experience with the CS4000, the nFuse & my Neo: rapid scanning is NOT an advantage!
