Who's got G-18, 123W on what size dish? Any in KY?
How's it working out for you? I'm getting conflicting info, so I'm looking for a little more info.
If I need a 36 inch dish, I'll try to find one. But if I really only need 30-33 inch, I found a reasonable 30" I can have shipped from GA. There's evidently NOTHING anywhere near me. There's nothing on craigslist. I've checked, repeatedly, for months, now.
If anybody can recommend an actual brand and model of linear or universal LNB, that would be great.

if you got the time peruse the flea markets, auctions, and yard sales for the larger (33") DN elliptical dish (the big one); if you can wait;

i have 123w with the dn superdish in ohio. its ok during good weather. but if it even thinks about raining outside you will lose quality fast. its also hard to get decent quality on some of the weaker transponders...but if you can get it cheap (or in my case free) its worth it to test it out.

I would recommend that you go with a 39"{ dish and Invacom Quad LNB as suggested by 'tooloose' and xxxxxx sales have them.

Re: Who's got G-18, 123W on what size dish? Any in KY?
Thanks, that's a good part of what I needed to know! Any suggestions for LNB's? (I have a receiver already.) I know that one, Invacom, is popular, but to pick up just one sat, I don't think I need one that fancy. (or pricey, money is definitely a consideration, here)

Re: Who's got G-18, 123W on what size dish? Any in KY?
I know most say you need 36" minimum.
I use a Winegard 76CM (30") dish and can get everything that the 36" dishes get. I'm in FL.
Wingard does under-advertise the size though - it's actually 80 X 87CM.
Antenna height 87 cm (34.3 in.)
Antenna width 80 cm (31.5 in.)
(Made in the USA too) Read the reviews on-line -- great dish

Re: Who's got G-18, 123W on what size dish? Any in KY?
For single fixed dish setup any linear FTA LNB will be fine. It shouldn't cost more than $20. Invacom makes a single linear LNB that is fantastic. There others that will work very well for less money.

Re: Who's got G-18, 123W on what size dish? Any in KY?
Great info, all of you guys! Mikemall, that's very helpful info on the Winegard dish, I didn't know that. I like to buy American made when I can, and I especially like to buy as locally as I can.
So it sounds like 30" Winegard, up to about 36", if there's one handy, and pretty much any linear LNB will do the job.
I have some nice, heavy, tall, steel posts, and my DH will set one up nice and plumb. Between the 2 of us I'm sure we can set it all up and get it pointed correctly.
I really like having the option of multiple time zones on network shows, makes it so much easier to catch the shows we like. Especially in the summer, when we're likely to be outside working on things until after dark. (We have a small farm.)

Re: Who's got G-18, 123W on what size dish? Any in KY?
BEFORE you buy;
go to dishpointer dot com and find your property!!
Next, I found that setting up a dish WITH a motor is actually easier than setting up a stationary dish. Also if you can get DTV single circular lnb for cheap $$ you'll find that you can easily approximate the positions of 123. You'll probably want 83W also.

I have the 30" Winegard with a motor, here in Florida. It does real well. And it seems easy to find the signals/quality because of the little bigger size. I am happy with it. But, I did buy an inexpensive signal finder and a good compass before I set it up. That helped out tremendously. You can find a good compass in the camping section of stores like Wal-Mart.

Re: Who's got G-18, 123W on what size dish? Any in KY?
Most of the cbs and fox channels appear to be from the west coast regions. Can they be pickedup from the east coast regions also? I am presently viewing AMC4@101 with a 26" x 38" Primestar dish w/linear lnb.
Thanks. ~Reaper_X~

I tried dishpointer.com, but I'm stuck with dial-up, and it only works with high-speed. Next time I go to the library I'll try it, though.
I really just want to get G-18, for now. I need to keep costs down, so no motor for now, maybe we'll add one later. Which sat is 83W?
Why would I get a DTV circular LNB? Don't I need a linear LNB for FTA? Is it to help aim or something?
