aiming motorised at True south
I am receiving My New PowerTeck DG 380 Motor.
Your Location Satellite Data Dish Setup Data
Latitude: 34.1211°
Longitude: -118.2645°
Name: Powertech DG380 Distance: 37061km
Motor Latitude: 34.1°
Declination Angle: 5.5°
Dish Elevation: 29°
Elevation: 50.3°
Azimuth (true): 180.0°
Azimuth (magn.): 167.2°
I have questions regarding aiming my dish ( Los Angeles ).
1) Why we have to point the dish to true south ??????? ( just curious )
2) 118.2645 is my true south .
do i have to use the compass to find it ????
or just find the south and point it to it ????
Thanks

Re: aiming motorised at True south
set the motor up on your pole, make sure your pole is truly level, you are so close to 119'
set STB to move motor to 119' using USALS, make sure your elevation setting is correct and then turn entire motor right and left till you nail 119'. From there you should be very close to the "ARC", test out on 110', 61.5, 129 etc. never change your elevation once it is set proper. Minor adjustments east and west can then be made and stored in the stb.....good luck

Re: aiming motorised at True south
"True South" is the reference point of your motorized dish.
You can use sat 119w as your TS, but you'll be off by a bit which might affect your ability to track other sats.
Best way to find True South:
Divide the time the Sun rises and when it sets.
At that time, the Sun will be at True South for your location.
Point your dish/motor assembly at the Sun at that time and then adjust your elevation according to the offset of the dish and you're set.
You can then use USALS to hit all the sats in your arc.

Re: aiming motorised at True south
Follow mookapyro's instructions and you will be all set.
You will need to go into the USALS setup and add you Lattitude and Longitude first. Then select the satellite say 119 andFrequency of 12239 the press OK on "Go to position". Once the motor stops, that is the position for 119W. Now loosen the motor bolts and move the motor and dish by hand to get your signal and quality for 119 and make sure the Satellite shows locked.Tighten the motor bolts to the mast. Now move to DiSEqC 1.2 and heremove the dish left or right slight movements to maximize the signal and the SAVE the position.
Next do the same for the other sats and save. You are done.

Re: aiming motorised at True south
Bump this up. Hopefully a Mod will see it and make the changes to your Guide.
