looking into buying new
Which is the best receiver out there at the moment that you would recommend buying? Currently have cnx mini - looking into upgrading for better picture quality and able to record as well. What is the latest and greatest (and something that is currently working).
Is there something that is also wireless that usb not needed to upgrade - a wireless unit perhaps?

At this time only the IKS based receivers are up. The major players are Nfusion, SonicView and KBox. All have their pros and cons.

327jy , I have nothing but good things to say about my kbox prodigy/khub purchase.It was the only box I know of that carried the UFC ppv this weekend.

..or if you change your mind and don't want to upgrade you can get a dongle for your mini....cnx server has been experiencing a lot of downtime lately though but you got to remember they're new at the iks game. Kbox with khub or nfusion (except for the nova) would be a good way to go now. Both of them experience very little downtime.
