$500,000 judgement against FTA programmer // 2009-05-04
There was lawsuit brought by DN and NagraStar against Phillip Allison aka thebroken for providing illegal unauthorized reception of DN signals, writing software codes for FTA receivers to de scramble Dishnetwork system.
It was alleged that software written by Phillip Allison was publicly distributed on sites including: xxxxxx.com, xxxx.com, xxxxx.tk and xxxxx.com among others.
The judgment includes $500,000 along with various restrictions against Mr. Allison.

A judgement for monetary damages usually can only be enforced if the defendant has liquid assets that can be found. If the defendant has no assets that the old saying applies "you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip".I'm not sure about the changes in the bankrupcy laws but it used to be that one could include any judgements against them in a bankrupcy action with the exception of a judgement for personal fraud. Those who participate in activities that might elicit legal action from corporate giants who have there own legal staff should protect themselves financially. It is difficult to enforce a monetary judgement against a pauper.
