SV Announcement on Freezing
Channel freezing is due to the following:
The server that was originally put in to place has a huge server load as of right now. Currently we are trying to figure out the issue and get it straightened out , there is a constant connection of around 20,000 active IP addresses/serial numbers-IHUB connections. Every time a user changes channels it is sending a request to the server which causes the server to lag and the server thinks that another active connection has been made, even when it hasn't. So instead of 1 active connection, it basically turns in to an average of 4 max active connections per ip/serial (mainly when a user changes channels to one that isn't added yet).So basically with 20,000 users connected, the server is tricked in to Thinking that there are 80,000 active connection. This is the cause of the server lag and freezing. So this is the issue at hand and is being looked in to and fixed.

Re: SV Announcement on Freezing
It doesn't say active users, it says ip addresses, and the serial # of the ihub. So, your ip addy leads dish to the door, and your Ihub serial # is the smoking gun. I don't study law, but it pretty much sounds like "case closed".

it doesnt matter where its located.....if there is a court order to turn over the server, then that court order stands no matter what country its in.....
also if sonicview was ever busted they would probably be given the option of paying a MUCH lesser charge if they turned over the server with all its current contents.....
do you think sonicview would refuse to pay a lesser charge and pay more money to save the personal information of a bunch of strangers?......think again.....
there would then be immediate court papers sent out to everybodys IP that has been logged....you should expect a fine of $4,000-$6,000.....case closed.....
IKS is serious crap.....and people should seriously consider the consequences of their actions after the hammer falls.....
i dont think people are taking this seriously enough.....

I did read about Charlie making a list of isp addresses linked to iks users.
And the CNX boys are not supporting the concept of iHub for that reason...even though there Nano uses it.
They claim you may not have a problem today...but someday you might get a visit or a fine.
I'm not sure what to think about it?

What do you think about a proxy server?
Would that be safe?
And what about a WiFi...hack the neighbors server & really beat the trail?

There are also wi-fi antenna's that will allow a user to tap into a "free public hotspot" like a cafe, hotel or library. All completely free and legal to use.
A proxy definitely makes it harder to get to the end of the trail.
Just because an ethernet cable is hooked up to an stb does not mean it is directly connected to the physical location of the user.

Hi all, my understanding of IKS is that what channel you are watching would also be sent to the server. The server needs to know the channel in order to send the correct key. Provided this is true then the server would contain the IP, serial, MAC and the channel list for all the users. The claim that you use the hub for mp3 downloads and games would not get far. Even if you use a proxy or a hacked WIFI the serial and the MAC would still come back to you.Now that is scary! Now to add even more concern, does anybody know for sure who is running the server? Even if it is secure what is keeping charlie from buying an IKS receiver and reverse engineer the network connection to the server and set one up themselves. All they have to do is start posting on some of the forums something like: New server, all channels up - go to IP Something to think about, SB0

Re: SV Announcement on Freezing
Get a router that supports VPN (Virtual Private Networking) that might be something worth looking in to for anyone considering IKS.
