hey everyone read this
Sun outages can interrupt TV signals
By CARI HAMMERSTROM
The Monitor
McALLEN, October 7, 2006 — If television snow interrupts a hot and steamy scene in the latest Lifetime flick during the next two weeks, another type of heat may be to blame.
“Sun outages” occur each fall and spring equinox, scrambling satellite signals from space to earth.
Cable companies can be affected from five to 15 minutes at a time with fuzziness, sparkles or digital tiling, even a com-plete loss of programming.
Other satellite-driven communication devices could be affected, as well.
The Time Warner Cable people explain it this way: “For a period of about two weeks, usually in the afternoon, the sun causes solar interference to all geostationary satellite signals. As the sun’s path across the sky gets lower each day, there are times when it is in a direct line behind a communication satellite that is sending signals to a receiving satellite dish here on earth.”
And, just like the human eye, a satellite dish cannot look directly into the sun.
The line-up happens twice yearly, and there is nothing anybody can do about it.
“Unfortunately, there is technically nothing we can do to prevent these sun outage effects,” Mike Carrosquilla, Time Warner Cable vice president and general manager, said in a statement. “The best advice we can offer when experiencing this phenomenon is to be patient while the sun outage passes naturally.”

Only Minor disruptions at 45 degrees North
Only Minor sat signal interuptions here in the North region.
A few channels show disruption.
Testing A Pantec 2500a
2 X 18" DTV each with Dual LNBs
I get 4 Sats with 2 fixed dishes.
