freetech is a company that make and sell fta receivers.. Now most likely would end, Too much money for them.. as for the others nothing will hapeen. Lately Echostar is getting real hard on fta cause we all know why...

thank for the info, i am still kind of new to all of this, but trying to learn as much as i can. and this site is real helpful because even if i ask a silly question evryone hears answers it in a nice way . so thanks to everyone here that is willing to educate us that don't know much about this hobby.

Sorry if this is DUMB.... but what about anyone using these receivers solely for the purpose of FTA. Coolsat produces receivers for FTA and solely for FTA, is this not correct, the same as all the other receiver manufacturers. So how can they tie them to fixing boxes and card sharing. I guess we will have to wait and see if they go after all the manufacturers one by one? That would be making the expression free to air, and oxymoron since we couldnt buy a receiver to receive free to air. Dont these receiver manufacturers keep a few arms length away from any coders or hackers?

Very interesting decision!!
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN NOW FOR IKS????
The ruling specifically rules against using IKS or any type of key or word sharing. My take is that any server routing these technologies will STOP! I am not a lawyer but the decision reads to me like it will have a far reaching affect!

If you read these documents completely, you'll see that this is an agreement reached through mediation. It is not a judicial decision. Since there is no conviction of a crime, it only affects those in this case and this case alone.

You might want to wait a couple of days and see if these are real papers-- the judges signature looks like it was computer generated--If they are real it is not a court finding but an agreement between parties looking like the defendants just quit so wait and see

coolsat closed it's doors months ago
the judgement probably stems from them not deffending themselves for they gave up and walked away
now if this was a judgment against an active company I see the significance but since Coolsat is long gone I don't see the point

because each and every fta company is assumed innocent
you can't say that all fta companies are the same or that they are all used for the same thing.... big assumption there
diknet needs to prove those allegations each and every time
now could they somehow be more interested in going after the elimination of IKS devices for FTA? that's a possiblity
