Beware:Fake VS Files Surfacing!

"MOD" alerted us to some fake VS files being posted at sites..After doing a Google search found some at a couple sites..these can be found at torrent and rapidshare sites from my understanding..Beware as these are reported to fry users boxes.Everyone please be on the watch for these and verify the validity of any files posted here before approving them.

NOTE:This is not just a rumour but since everyone is reading here lately we figured it might get noticed more here..

Does it really matter? We haven't got a fix for like a year. Our best choice is to load these feign or genuine files into our FTA receiver and see what happens.. Atleast we get to enjoy something before this whole FTA ends completely. Hehe.

What are you talking about? No fixes for a year!! What receiver are you referring to? Its only been about 3 months> I agree, what harm can it do to load one of these files, I have 7 viewsats and 5 coolsats in my closet, I really dont think we will ever have any n3 files.

Lol.. I have a viewsat ultra.. Well, I said like a year because it feels like it or probably more, but that's not the point. I don't think there's ever going to be a fix anyway, so loading these files onto your receiver would be more enjoyable than nothing.

Edit: I loaded these files, and my receiver is responding like usual. Lol, black screen with no video and audio file.. The only picture I get are the FTA channels. Luckily, my family still got illegal cable.. If it aint for that, my head would be spinning about now.

the possible harm is that the files could 'brick' the receiver.
ie: the receiver will NOT accept any future files and will be dead.

a merely bad file can simply screw the ROM or go into a standard cpu-loop
and require a bit of hardware expertise to replace the ROM.
however, a truly agressive bad file can cause other hardware/motherboard parts
to literally fail/blow/burn. software-based receivers can be forced into loops and
other nasties that will heat up components until they give up.

Do not get taken in by scammers, selling access to BS files.
