Another Buyer for DIRECTV?
We’ve been hearing for quite some time about the odds for an AT&T purchase of DIRECTV. But the big T isn’t the only game in town. Now speculation is surfacing about a Verizon bid for the DIRECTV Group. Noting comments from Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg about bundling video and wireless services, Saturday’s Wall Street Journal promptly nominated DIRECTV as VZ’s best bet. The No. 1 DBS service could bring Verizon both the bulk needed to beat down programming costs and national marketing synergies to couple with Verizon’s increasingly important wireless service.
Add to that a spate of recent press releases touting rollouts of Verizon’s “fast, affordable, DSL-enabled high speed internet service” in various locales plus releases on the great savings offered by a Verizon voice, data and DIRECTV video bundle and well ... we bet Dr. John Malone is getting some mighty interesting phone calls lately.•

Re: Another Buyer for DIRECTV?
Guess they were aware of Comcast interest in ABCNBCCBS or any other player so that "they" may gain control over IPTV eventually. No reason to pay if you can get it for free (ladies "IT" means video...LOL).

Re: Another Buyer for DIRECTV?
An addition! 1.1B / 400.00 USD for a FTA HD = ~ 270,000 units. WOW, forget the sats. Open an FTA site and get in on the retail side. I'd buy stock...yea right!

Re: Another Buyer for DIRECTV?
Just my 2 cents, Verizon is the worst that could take over then ATT is the second worst. Again this is just my 2 cents. As far as cellphones Verizon makes about 1000% profit from their cellphones, and ATT makes about 800% profit for cellphone use. What does it take to make a diode switch states, about .7 volts, not even a penny per hour and then charging 10 cents a minute. And then getting the public tax payers to launch their sattelites. The taxpayers are keeping their equipment up to. They are ripping the public apart What makes me think that TV will be any different. Thats what wrong with the USA is all these companies simply duping the public into thinking that the services they provide couldnt cost them anyless. They are nothing but liars and bill you for more than what you agreed to. THEY LIE. Worse than dish and worse than Direct. This will only go downhill for subscribers. Verizon and ATT owners should die in hades, nothing but crooks in my book. I will go FTA or rabbit ears but I refuse to go anyfurther, I will go without before I give into to them, again just my 2 cents.

Re: Another Buyer for DIRECTV?
funny, I thought with echostar and dishnetwork parting ways (IPO). it would be AT&T that would
buy dishnetwork as the company Pacific Bell (now the AT&T adopted name) already had
agreements with them.
