VS Ultras Beware - ABA DSS

I am speaking to a VS Ultra owner right now who has loaded a "new bin" for his Ultra. His unit is dead now. From what I know there has been no file released for the Ultra yet. So be careful out there guys.

Where did he get it? It couldn't have been a reputable place though. Don't the trusted sites get the BINs straight from the coders in some way?

He got it from a well know site that has apparently been hacked. It's against the rules to post the site here though.

there is a fail fix out there for the ultra, get your friend to do some looking around.
this fix was made for dead stb's

From what you have just said sounds like he loaded the failfix file through his USB port ......... (that is the file that is being downloaded through that link .. even though it says . DOWN .. right beside .. ULTRA..) ........ what he needs to do is install the failfix file .. (I would re-download it from a reliable site) with his Null modem cable, then install the latest factory bin then the new bin file when it comes out ........... he will have to reset his dish settings and rescan also.

How about a hint where he got it? or pm me please with info. I am new to all this and do not want to mess up anything. As of right now I do not belong to any site as I have only found 4 and don't know which are any good.

I saw the failfix bin on the other site and yes it says "Down" right beside it, if your new to this, it pays to spend a lot of time late nights reading when you can get all the info you need. This site is quite reliable and there are only one or two others that I have not had any problems with. One of the sites has apparently been hacked and they have a notice on the front page, but this hobby of ours requires a great deal of reading and a modicum of computer savvy and common sense. So folks late night reading is a must since you can get into the sites then, a ton of info is available

There is no BIN out, if there is, now, then its probably a hoax. The "bin" that people thought were out is the failfix which won't get you back up.

there 2 new fixes out now for the ultra.
the first was for dn only.
the second is for dn/bev
the vs/sv's just had a small clitch with a/r for bev all fixed up now.
a few more bev fixes to come for some vs models but ultra is good to go.

Thanks for the info, yeah, I had the Fix for him pretty much the same time I made this warning post. I guess I should have said that.
