Re: Viewsat / Viewtech Case
The lawsiut is against VIEWTECHmand is not almed at third party endusers or coders
simply put it is saying that VIEWTECH did with its knowledge produce a unit to recive
private owned sat transmissions of echostarr. But we all here are free to air testersmand we do not condone illegal actions to intercept sat transmissions. So no you do not habve to run out and get another unit,or throw yours in the trash........if you do throw it my way........Remember whatever site you are a member....support your site sponsers

Re: Pansat being sued now by Echostar
The sad reality is this is a business, and like all business they in the market to make money (lots of money). Sure there's always costs of infrastructure/marketing/research etc... but the rates they are charging is horrendous. FTA has allowing us to get by a bit cheaper (not free) then subscription.
However without dedicate people to this hobby the masses would not have any TV to watch. I'll take this opportunity to thank all of them, I would not be here without yous all.

Freetech being sued by Echostar
Freetech being sued by Echostar
So far, three biggest FTA companies are getting by DN: Coolsat, Viewsat, Pansat. Who is next in line?

Re: Freetech being sued by Echostar
I have been hearing about this for three years. Some coders simply take their time to release a file to get it working for a while the first time.

Re: Freetech being sued by Echostar
Just curious with all the big companies now being sued what does this mean for the fta community? Knowing that the legal system can drag on for years does this really have any forseeable impact?

There does not look like much here. Maybe because it is in the early stages....

Re: Freetech being sued by Echostar
What can Dish or Bev do to any of the companies who made the FTA box's ? When I got mine it wasn't a thing on it, plus from what I have been reading no one else got a FTA with anything on it when you bought it. So what did any of the companies do wrong, but sell us a FTA box. Who fool with it, who fixed it ? When you got it, all it would get was Free To Air, nothing else. Charlie and Bev are just tryin' to scare everyone that they can win, how can they when nobody has done anything wrong, I haven't done anything myself, lol. It's all a big smoke screen, just like the last map change, but they lost alot of money on the last one and this time around it may be more. The one's who are paying for their TV are getting hit also, so think about it, if you was paying for TV and it is going out on you what would you do, go to someone else. I have been in this since the big dish, F card, H card, football card and the rom cards, plus FTA's. This crap will stop sooner or later because there is to much money to be losted. This is just my opinon and 2 cent's worth on the matter. It's all a game, we will have to wait to see who win's, Plus a money game. To much money already stuck into the FTA's and you will bet they will get a fix out soon.

To All Valued Coolsat Dealers and Consumers
To All Valued Coolsat Dealers and Consumers,
Recently, we have noticed postings on various forums regarding a lawsuit filed by Echostar Satellite LLC and Nagrastar LLC against Freetech, parent company of Coolsat for alleged copyright violations and other claims. Coolsat has not been served with a lawsuit at the time of this press release, and thus cannot comment on it. However, we can assure all of our dealers and consumers that Freetech has not infringed upon any company’s intellectual property rights. No notice of violations or demand to cease and desist has been made on Freetech. Although Freetech has not reviewed the specific claims made in the lawsuit, any such claims should not be confused with current claims against other FTA receiver manufacturers. Freetech is committed to continually providing top quality receivers, customer service and support and there will be no disruptions for new and existing Coolsat consumers. Finally, once we have reviewed the claims, we look forward to addressing all of the allegations made against Freetech, and are confident that any court proceedings will result in favor of Freetech.

Re: Pansat being sued now by Echostar
I Bought A Bud Back Before Anything Was Scrambled And Used It For Probably Twenety Years And Loved It. When They Started Scrambling Channels I Thought From The Start They Were Overcharging But Paid It Anyway. Now We're Playing The Same Games With Dn As We Were Years Ago With The Bud. I Would Gladly Pay Say $500.00 A Year And Just Turn It On. After All We Have Our Own Equipment. Looks Pretty Much Like Free Revenue To Me. Charlie Could Probably Save A Lot Of Money On Sending Out Ecm's. Looks Like A No Brainer To Me.
