What they don't mention is those billions are saved by the potential customers (people who actually need it).

Re: Satellite piracy costing TV industry billions - Toronto Star
a good read. sounds to me like a lot of empty threats from dik and bev. only end-users ever charged happened to be selling pre-programed stb's. duh. if your going to be that bold you should expect to get fined.
also check out ch 125 on dn. saw that last night and got a little chuckle out of it. turns out i'm a pirate. arrr.

Re: Satellite piracy costing TV industry billions - Toronto Star
ohh boo hoo, take the commercials out then I might want to pay, run a cable if you want to know who gets your service, eliminate the CRTC's regulations on content, I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR CHANNELS I DON'T WANT. In the end the Internet will deliver TV, like it or not.

The Toronto Star and bias, heaven forbid! Maybe they'll write a story about how they made billions exploiting the paper carriers and outsourced the jobs when faced with a unionized work force. A newspaper started by striking workers in 1892 busts unions, amazing. As for TV, it is free, what I choose to do with microwaves that are being beamed at me is my business. DN and ma Bell can go to HELL. No cable crap for me CRTC, if I watch an American channel then let me see an American commercial. I guess Canadian commercials are more important than local programming to the CRTC. GOD bless the Coders, f**k the rest of 'em.

The internet providers have a looooong way to go!!! Have you attempted to watch so called live tv on your computer?? When they finally get to a point where it is worth watching, the internet providers will be scream about the bandwidth being gobbled up by uesrs followed by bandwith limitations and fees.
No easy answers.
I am getting by with a home made "clothes hanger" antenna and local stations. Get more TV now than when I struggled to watch satellite 123 which ended when my antenna was smashed.

How do these pinheads come up with the money figures? Costing millions ? get realistic, and just charge more to the people who actually pay for this crap, I don't have a hockey arena named after me ( bell center )or a baseball park ( rogers center ) Its all just a scam to make more.....greed will kill.

Actually the taxpayers shelled out 620+ million for the SkyDome and Rogers picked it up for 25 million so it's not like they can't afford a few million. They probably spend more than that on executive lunches and political kickbacks. I was a slave to cable once but I put up the rabbit ears and that was that. BTW. the ISPs are already screaming about bandwidth and TV.

It's typical of Bell to forecast billions of dollars in potential revenue based on yet another assumption, by the pompous SOB's, that everyone would purchase their ridiculously high priced services in the first place. I'd gladly pay for satellite service if it weren't so greedily priced and if they were to do something about their channel tier system. (like can the **** thing completely) The way they set up their tiers is such an obvious and blatant "gouging" technique". Get 4 crappy channels in order to get the 1 that appeals to you. Kiss my *** Bell. long live the coders!
