New clone unit pics!! - ABA DSS

Here is just a little public service announcement for everyone out there. I just recently got into this hobby and decided to buy a Viewsat Ultra. Well like a dummy i went to e-b*y to buy one because of the $. Well needless to say it was a clone.... Confirmed by Viewsat USA. I have filed a formal complaint with e-b*y and hopefully this seller will be pulled, but e-b*y usually gives them some chances before pulling them off. So beware, dont buy from seller FTAOUTLET. Here are some pics of the inside of my clone unit. In this particular clone the only way to tell is on the inside of the box. The outside of the box is just like all of the originals i have seen. If anyone has any pics of an original on the inside you might attach them to this post for everyone to see the difference.

I ended up with 2 ultra clones from ftaoutlet also.Both units died within days.Sent them back and they repaired them and died fast again.I have never had a Viewsat Ultra ever die.I told them I wanted a refund and was told they don't give refunds.Viewsat confirmed they were clones.Filed complaint with Paypal.Viewsat said they would send paperwork for my claim, but they never did.E-mailed them numerous times and not one response.Told them who I purchased from and they are still selling on E-bay.Buy from a sponsor and don't get burned.I have only one dead clone.Other was never returned after the second repair.It seems the reward for turning in clone dealers doesn't mean much.The price wasn't any cheaper from ftaoutlet either.

Interesting to note that the original post (complaint) dates back to October, 2007. Yet Joey's experience was posted only 3 weeks ago. I checked out FTAoutlet on FleaBay and they are still in business and apparently thriving. They also have expanded their line to include other FTA brands but they are NOT authorized dealers for same. Perhaps their name should be posted in a sticky somewhere so other users don't get duped.

i have always had a rule of my on when it comes to electronics stay away from ebay alltogether bit once shiaway bit twice stay away

It's not an ULTRA! It is an original Platinum, no longer sold by Viewtek. With the proper files did it work OK?

I am planning on buying a viewsat receiver and would like to know where to buy it for the best value. Has anyone bought one from Ebay and was not a clone. In short does anybody know about an authorised dealer on Ebay?

I purchased a neosat ipro 2000 plus instead they sent a neosat pro filed a complaint on paypal and got my money back but please be ware of FTAOUTLET DO NOT BUY from them
