Viewsat vs2000 PLAT.

I just ordered a Viewsat vs2000 Plat. I just want to know if they make clones of the Viewsat vs2000 Plat.? I would think that if they made clones they would look much different than the original ones. Is this the case? I saw a picture of the one I ordered and it looked like it was a genuine one. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I want to make sure that I didn't order a clone. By the way, how are these recievers coming around as for as being up and running or is there a lot of problems with them. I heard a lot of good things about this model of receiver and that's why I ordered one. I would appreciate any help. THANKS

One of the reasons why I ordered it was because you said that the Viewsat was your favorite. I hope you were talking about the VS2000 PLAT. and not the Extreme. It probably doesn't matter what one it was. I'm sure they a very similar. But was it the PLAT.? Are they hard to load or do they load just like the CS5000? Once again Carpenter1, I appreciate the help. THANKS

P.S.
I don't think you should call me
because as much as you help me
I would probably call you every hour. LOL
THANKS

load viewsat vs2000 help please

Hi carpenter1. It's me again. I just want to make sure how to load the vs2000 when it gets here. I don't want to blow it up. You said I have to have the box off then load the bin to my loader? Then I just turn the box on. Is that it? If you could let me know how to do it step by step I would appreciate it. Anyone that could help me I would be greatful. I've been used to loading my cs5000. If it is anything like that one, it should be easy for me. I just don't want to mess up my vs2000 when I get it. Thanks

P.S.
Is there any way I could take a hard drive from a
DVR and install it to my vs2000 and make it a FTA
DVR box? I was going to buy one of the FTA boxes
that already has a hard drive in it but it cost a lot of money.
I was hoping I could save some money by making my own
DVR FTA box. Thanks

First you need the loader2 then you need the latest file "Bin" you unzip it as you would the Coolsat, then open up the loader hit "Open files" then find your unziped file and double clik on it and it will go to your loader2, hit the button on your loader that says PC>STB and a white box will open up. When you see this box just turn on your box from the rear and it will start loading, let it get to 100% and then look at the screen on your reciever int will sat inst let it finish and then it will say END let it sit for 5 sec. untill you see 0000. When you see this it is safe to turn it off and hook it up to your system. When you get to that point you will need to set up your menu. When you do all this I will help you set up your menu just give me your info such as what LNB you have and what satellites you are pointed to. As far as modifying the box I would not do it unless you are familar with the Viewsat and know what your doing.

PS is the coolsat working now?

Yes. The CS5000 is working great now. I have never went to the Database Reset section and did a factory set. After I did that it has been working fine. Thanks for the help. I will be hooking up my VS2000 to a Dish 500 dual lnb that is getting the 110 and 119 and a directv dish with one dual lnb that is getting the 91 satellite. Thanks for wanting to help me. I hope I learn how to work my vs2000 when it comes in. Thanks for taking me through it.

That's good to hear and as far as the settings on the Viewsat you just need to set the LNB to standard and bellow that set it to 11250 and then your switch to whatever LNB you have pointed to whatever satellite.

So I set every lnb to standard(the 119,110 and the 91), those are the 3 that I'm pointed to get. After I set all 3 to standard then I make sure that below all 3 are set to 11250???? Is that correct so far? Then I just do a satellite channel scan for each satellite???? Is that pretty much it? I will be able to get all 3 of my satellites at the same time correct? Or do I have to switch from each one? I hope not. I would appreciate help from anyone with this. Is the VS2000 DISH SETTINGS SECTION anything like the cs5000? Or is it way different? On my CS5000 I noticed that I was having problems keeping the 110 and the 119 satellites in the same section. For instance, when I would go through and see what satellites I'm picking up, sometimes when I was on the 110 satellite, from the dish settings, in the upper right corner, it would say 110 west but sometimes it would say 119 west. It would change even if I was still on the 110. And vice versa with the 119. It would be different in the upper right corner. Never stay the same. The only one that would stay the same was the 91. It would say bellexpressvu 91 in the upper right corner when I was on the 91. It would never change. I'm sorry to write so much but it is kind of hard to explain. I think I confused myself. If I was only hitting 3 satellites why did some other ones show quallity, but in the upper right corner say 91,110 or 119. I know that the one that it shows in the corner is the one that I'm getting. I guess I just need to learn how to install my switch, right? Then each satellite should stay in the same place? Once again, I'm sorry to write so much. I just want to make sure that I'm doing everything right. THANKS
