VS 'Boot-Lock' fix.....8 8 8 display

I had this issue with one of my VSU's.. It shows three eights on the display.. (2 bright ones and one faint) ... ' 8 8 8' .. something like that.. Mine wouldn't take any uploads from the PC via Null Cable no matter how many times I tried..(Unlike the '-------' knight rider freeze - this is not the same) . I own two VSU units and was able to fix it by 'cloning'. Do the following...(you will have to find someone with the same VS unit)
Someone called this 'Boot-Lock' .. Good name for it!

(1) Load factory file 132 on to the working unit and hook it up to the TV.
(2) Plug in the nonworking unit and make sure the rear power switch is off.
(3) Connect both units with the serial cable.
(4) On the working unit go to the 'Receiver Upgrade' menu
{Menu (button) - Receiver Information - Receiver Upgrade}
(5) Choose 'All Information' and hit ok on the remote
(6) Turn the power switch to the nonworking unit on and wait several minutes for it to upload the information to the nonworking unit. Both units will say 'off' and will remain idle for a minute when it finishes. (It appears to upload 3 or 4 times - be patient)
{If the nonworking unit reverts back to '8 8 8' repeat step 6}
(7) Push exit on the controller and turn both units off. Disconnect the serial cable.
(8) The nonworking unit should be functioning normally now. Update both units with the latest bin file via usb flash drive and reprogram satellite info and channels.
(or load this info if you have it saved to the memory stick)

Trying to 'clone' the latest bin file will not work. The nonworking receiver will go back to showing '8 8 8'. This procedure must be done with the working unit having the factory file 132 loaded.
This will fix the issue. I've seen this on the VSU and the HD9000

P.S. When you get the unit running and programmed I suggest you save 'Satellites' and 'Channels' to your USB Flash Drive from the 'Receiver Upgrade' menu. Whenever you have to load a factory file or your info gets erased somehow you can load the info from the 'USB' submenu. (It will save all your settings including favorites)
Good Luck.
