satellite finder

Just a simple question , when using a satellite finder do I connect the other end of the cable cord to the receiver and does the receiver have to be on?

ok if you are using saya eagle star sat finder then you want to be at the dish if you look on the back it should say lnb and other side reciever take a short 2 ft cable and run it to the lnb then hook up your long cable that goes into the house now turn the smal dial to about 1/2 and you can slowly move until you get a high pitch sound the higher the stronger the signal .. this is a just a round about for most cheapy sat finders ..post what one you have ..they will just give you a good location unless you have a really good one ..

I have the speedvision satellite finder ,its just a little simple one .I just need to know if i have to have it hooked up to the receiver and does the receiver have to be on.?

if it is shut off you reciever from the back and look at the back of the sat finder one will say lnb the other will say stb or reciever hook it up then once the cables are on then go and turn on the reciever now go back to the sat finder and you will see a light on inside it now set to 1/2 way on the dial in the front now take a compass and point south now you can move aroound until you hear the sounds that i said before all the time you can look for a good signal and q on the reciever

Your receiver has to be off when you hook it up and on when you use it. This is to prevent a short to the receiver or LNB during hookup. The receiver needs to be on when you use it since the meter gets its dc power from the receiver.
