loader 2 problems
Hi all
I was sent a loader 2 prog and whenever i tried to use it i keep getting the same message " com port open failed " then the prog opens and even if i follow the instructions to the letter i still can't load the necessary file onto the extreme fta. I checked to see if their might be a problem with the com port in device mgr and it says that the device is working properly and it is enabled. I also check the pins on both the fta and the pc com port and nothing wrong there too . So what gives. has anyone encountered the same problem before What can I do.

I had the exact same problem when I bought a new computer with no serial port. I had to buy an adapter and use a USB port. That's when my troubles started. Well....I checked and found out that the com port for USB is comm 8 and I was using comm4. I changed the loader2 to comm 8 and then I was able to load. I don't know if that's your problem but check and see if you're on the right comm port.

If your computer has multiple COM ports, make sure you select the correct one.

I know this is elementary, but are you going into tools on the loader and telling which com port to use?

and yes i did check to see if i was using the right com port on the loader 2 and i have tried to use a different com port too . nothing seems to help.
What happens is that as soon as i click on the loader2 exe file I get the message that com port open failed. Any more thoughts or suggestions

I had the problem with loading the file as well
It open but it won't load. The display on the receiver remain 0.0.0.0
But I finally change a different cable from the computer into the receiver and I have no problem
No I'm waiting to get home tonight and watch some TV
I hope this will help

I don't know if you've solved the problem, but I had the same message when I tried. Turned out I had a USB PDA device that was keeping COM1 open even though it wasn't using it. I went into the connection settings for the pda and disabled the com1 and the network settings that weren't being used.....solved the problem.
Hope this helps someone

Re: loader 2 problems
If you dont have the drivers installed for your usb-ser adapter the p.c is not seeing the receiver, so the loader cant either. Some p.c's need to have the drivers installed while other p.c's will recognize different cables. Thats why not everyone has this problem.
Then make sure your ports are directed properly.
I hope this helps
