VS quirks and solutions: Duplicate channels, freezing, missing channels, etc...

All STB's have quirks.

Viewsats work great if you know thier quirks:

Here are some quirks and solutions:

Turn off "auto TP" beofre scanning or editing channels

Do not use blindscan feature on Charlie or Bev Sat's

If you use DP34, make sure that you have a Charlie, Bev ,Coolsat, or other more powerful receiver connected to power the switch, or you may not get signal or quality.

After factory reset, you need to reset your dish settings and time.

Viewsats do not work well with channel list. scan is the best way to make sure your receiver gets all channels without problems.

If your receiver is rebooting itself it is normally a problem with channel database. do a factory reset, setup dish/lnb setting and rescan.

If you are having a lot of problems, do factory reset Load latest factory bin, then latest working bin, shut off auto tp, rescan, let keys roll, watch tv.

New bins have new sat files. no need to duplicate.

Opkey's will add the newest keys to your VS and eliminate the 5 min it may take to autoroll for the first time.

If you cannot fix your VS, clone another working VS and it should repair your system.

If you load plat file to xtreme or xtreme to plat you will get black and while and messed up picture. Load factory bin, then working bin to correct.

Loader2 is the most current loader

on vs2000 plat. after i load sats. i have 89 on signal and 98 on quality, but when i change channel the quality will be 98 then go to none only on some channels/ i have 503 & 519 working but the quality won't stay on the other ppv's. what do i need to do??

Good info Carp, but I noticed that when you do just a sat scan,some TP are missing, then you have to add then manualy,or to do a blind one.I have this experience with the extreme.

I have a channel list on channel master were i eliminate what i dont want to see. After a satelite scan i put back the same list. It's work with the same list with my pansat or viewsat. Actualy pansat is down. But when i scan with the viewsat i have less channel. When after i put my channel list, the other channels are there, not duplicate. I never understand but i dont mind. I have plenty of channel that i dont even look. It's only 24 hours in a day and i spend some reading on this site.

I have noticed that the Extreme has some issues with the Bin have you tried the 2051 factory file and the default sat file?

great points. Any idea why alot of my channels are set on "spanish"? I have to manually change them to english sometimes.

You probably loaded a Channel List. Didn't you?

Once I do that, can i then create my own channel list (export the sanned info fromt he STB to the PC)? I have a need to block the prn, and label the other channels (got kids)

You can do that directly through the box in the menu guide under Edit Channels. You can lock, delete, rename and so on, there is a channel edit tool in general downloads in Viewsat section that Viewsat recommends.

Just installing my new VS2000 Ultra still working out the bugs. I have noticed that the picture produced seems less sharp than my old Pansat 2500A and comment or suggestions would be appreciated.

Can you please recommend me procedure for getting for 61.5 channels on VS ultra


I am using dp34 switch, I am getting feed for 110 and 119, but 61.5 feed is not picking up channels from auto scan or channel scan, even i tried to add channels manually by adding tp freq VID, AID, and PID, it could be a switch problem ?

If I hook the DN receiver back i get all (110,119, 61.5 ) feed !

but I do see the signal strength (Q and W) for 61.5
in VS ultra please advise
