Unable to pause and rewind!

I have a 360 elite and i have a western digital hard drive and for some odd reason i can't pause and rewind with it. I could record and while recording i could pause. I don't want to record just to pause something. Is it me are is any one else have this same problem? I'm thinking it's the file but i could be wrong. I also tried checking for errors on the computer. If there is anything i'm missing please inform me......

So what was the problem if you don't mnd saying. I am considering one of these boxes and researching any problems with it, especially problems with the PVR.
