So about all that dish will do where it is now pointed, is play music. lol

And if I were you, I would get a Dish500 & just worry about figuring out how the box works...then after you become a master at that...then progress to the motorized dish...as the next level of testing.

* A used dish works just as good as a new one.
Check around at the yard sales & flea markets or ebay for a good deal on a used dish. (also watch the dumpsters around condos & appartments for discarded dishes when someone moves away)
What makes me mad is that I just threw one away! Oh well, such is life... Will a 30" dish with the right LNB do everything a Dish 500 will do? If so, maybe I'll just do that, then get a motor later to do sme more testing.

Well yes, it will work...but it will only get 1 bird at a time. (without motor)
Unless the big dish will allow you to put a yoke on it. (yoke holds 2 LNBs)
It depends on the size & shape of the feed arm.

I think the dish / LNB / motor all cost about the same amount of $ so if you get the dish & LNB you spent 2/3 of the total. (just to catch 1 bird)

A new Dish500 runs about $100. (used about $50.)
It's your call... (sucks you dumped the dish you need)

Man, nothing is ever easy! Okay, I guess I'll get a Dish 500 be happy with it...for awhile. Probably will be plenty of channels for what I want anyway. I can always move up to the movable 30" dish later on after I get used to running the receiver and the rest of the stuff. Then I can get some other stuff and test the other birds.

OK, good.
I would use the Dish 500 for 110 & 119 DN. (about 750 channels)
Then later you can get another Dish500 & aim it at 82 & 91 BEV (about 1250 channels combined)
That will keep you happy for a long time...then you can save up & get the motor setup & become a master.
Here is a cool tool you will need to set the dish.
This is the best tool ever to set a dish...now you can play with it while you wait for your stuff. >>>

Thanks for the info. I played around with the dish pointer and the area it shows fpr my address is about 20 miles off. Pretty typical for me and Google Earth. My internet supplier (wireless, but not on Satalite) thinks I'm 20 miles from their antenna and tell me I can't get their service when I call them. I have had it for a couple of years and try to explain that Google Earth is about 20 miles off from my address for some reason. I'll work on it and see if I can get it to work for me. Thanks again...

Never heard of it being off like that.
If you have a handheld GPS unit...you can get the Long. & Lat. at your house & enter that data to the dish pointer tool. (just a thought)

Try dumping the bin & reload it from here again...then load it again to the thumb drive & see if it will upload to the receiver this time.
If not, you can always just use the serial data cable to load the bin.
