You want to format it in fat32, and then give the 360 elite (not the xbox ) a good amount of time to also format it, sometimes depending on the size of the hdd, it will take up to an hour i have heard. It may freeze, but its just the receiver doing its thing.

Re: sv 360 elite hard drive

hook harddrive up to box and go to pvr in menu options then usb drives and will be a format button(i think green) push buttons and follow directions. It will ask 2 types fat32 or ext2. some say ext2 works best but i use fat32 and have never have had a problem yet.you pick up to you.

difference is fat32 for windows operating systems and
ext2 for linux

Re: sv 360 elite hard drive

I do not have this receiver yet but I would suggest FAT32 also rather than EXT2 if the PC you are going to use is a windows based PC. EXT2 will work fine with a Linux based system but you will need 3rd party software just to see the files on a windows based system. You will not have this problem with a FAT32 file system.
