Question regarding template file

I am in the process of doing a first-time setup for 110/119, using a SV360 Elite. The posts on here have already been a huge help in assisting me, including the choice of STB. Congrats on a truly useful community of knowledge.

I note in the Downloads section there is a channel-naming template file, in spreadsheet format. Is this file one that can be loaded into the STB through the USB, or is it necessary to manually do the entries for whichever sats one is receiving?

Also, I have received mixed opinions as to whether it is useful to add 91 to the 110/119 setup (I am in Canada). Anyone care to offer their experienced opinion?

Thank you!

Re: Question regarding template file

long name templates can be loaded just like files.you select it and click on s/w upgrade.
iv found they don't like to turn off/on tho as intended in the menu system.
its not needed no.its an extra user preference.does just what it says.makes the channels read long names.
you have to setup and scan for channels first still.

oh yes.119/110/91 are all must have birds.don't let anyone tell you different.

Re: Question regarding template file

Thanks for the info -- exactly what I was looking for!

I just finished mounting a Dish500 and running two lines to the 360. Wasn't able to acquire the birds yet (I am working alone and don't have someone to watch the screen while I twist & tilt.... bummer) but I was seriously impressed at the setup screens and how easy the config procedure is, even allowing for the somewhat amusing language quirks in the manual. At present I am getting "noise" but no channels. Oh well, I guess I was hoping that my Boy Scout experience with a compass would finally be put to good use .....

Now, further to the 91 option. I am new to DSS but am a bit of a techhead. If I want to preserve the ability to watch-and-record after I add 91, how does this sound:

- Add a second dish with dual output for 91
- Add two switches, one on each downline. The tuner-1 one would switch between 110 and 91, while the tuner-2 one would switch between 119 and 91.

If there's a superior solution, I'm all ears......

Re: Question regarding template file

running a external switch on your 500 when there is a switch in the dish already i would think would cause them to interfer with each other someone might have better info on that than than me.i would think one lead from 500(119-110) to tuner one and one lead to tuner two from 91.
