Need Help - Brand New SonicView SV360 Elite - Will not update
I just bought a brand new SonicView SV360Elite about 2 hours ago to replace my old viewsat. I hook everything up and then;
I download the new rom update from here and copy onto usb thumb-drive.
I connect it to the SV360 and follow the directions on how to update. It gets to the point about "Reading -------------->" and just hangs. Never asks me to reboot and the remote is unresponsive.
The only thin I can do is power off from switch and try it again but get the same results.
I have tried both the new update listed and even went back an update and get the same thing. I made sure to format the thumb-drive before copying the files to it. I did a factory update and then tried again but still same thing.
Do you think I got a defective box? Should I take it back and try to exchange it?
PLEAASSSEEE HEEELLLLPPPPP!!!!!!

Don't load the file directly to your thumb drive. Create a folder and load the new file in the folder. then extract from folder...

I created a folder on the thumb drive called "update" and then copied the rom file into that folder and tried it again with same results again.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Every time you load any file you have to reformat the thumb drive to fat32. Then load the latest file. Now the latest file, did you remane it, cause it was missing the .rom in the name.
You may have to do a factory default redo the sat settings, and don't forget to format the thumb drive each time.

Re: Need Help - Brand New SonicView SV360 Elite - Will not update
Still doesn't work. I did everything exactly as you stated. I had formatted the thumb drive as just fat 16 before. so i switched the format to fat 32. Then reran the factory reset. Made sure that the file was in a folder on the thumb drive. Still getting the same issue. It does see the folder and file. It also asks me if the file is a s/w update after I select it. It just gets to the Reading (with the progress bar that fills all the way up) then freezes.

try deleting everything off your usb stick and pasting the unzipped file onto stick then try loading. my usb stick is formatted to fat16 and have never had to format to load new bin.

Didn't work. When I formatted the usb drive it cleared everything off of it. Then I tried both ways of creating a folder and not creating a folder. I also formatted the usb drive fat 16 and fat 32.

It will always wipe the usb drive clean when you format it. After formatting just copy paste the rom file only to the usb drive. Make sure your receiver is off using remote. Put in the usb stick. Turn on receiver, go to PVR>USB>OK>OK and it should start loading.

Re: Need Help - Brand New SonicView SV360 Elite - Will not update
the only other think i can think of is maybe force loading it(turn off from back and with usb stick inserted, press and hold OK button in the front while turning on from back switch. or loading with the loader thru null cable from computer see if it will take. i have not had to do any of these thing but there should be stickies on how to. none work maybe bad box. try zeke's way first

I like your way. I forgot about the null cable that came with it cause I've never used it. I love the usb stick. If all else fails definitely try the null cable. Good call Baron.
