Question: 2 Elite dual tuners
Okay, right now, I have and elite setup in the living room with two cables coming in from the dish and connecting to LNB1 in and LNB2 in, so I have true dual tuner capabilities. What I want to do is install another tuner (another Elite) in the bedroom.
If I pass two cables from the living room STB to the bedroom STB using the IF1 and IF2 outs, will I have full dual tuner capabilities in the bedroom? As I understand it, the IF ports only pass the sat signal to another tuner, right?

Re: Question: 2 Elite dual tuners
so i take it you have a dish 500 with a dp twin lnb pointed at 119/110.is this guess correct?
IF so.here is what id do.
swap out the dp twin for a dpp (dish pro plus) twin lnb.
run one line to each Elite.but put a dpp separator before them each.
easy and neat.and both stbs will have true dual tuner pvr recording/watching each.

Actually, I have a D500 with with two Legacy twins. I'm running two 4x1 switches, but right now, I'm using just port 1 and port 2 on each (so later I can run another same dish setup for B3V and tie right into the existing dish/switches) with two cables coming into the house supplying two full tuners on the one Elite I have now.
What I would like to do is take two cables from the existing Elite's IF out ports to the two LBN in ports on another Elite in another room. If I read right, the IF out ports are to pass the sat signal to another receiver. I figured that if I can run two cables to another Elite's LBN in ports, I could get full tuner capabilities on the second Elite.

Re: Question: 2 Elite dual tuners
oh i see.
yes you can do this.however the first stb(master) will control which channels you can watch on the second (slave) receiver, unless the master stb is turned off.
so in other words, its not a good idea,UNLESS you plan on using only one stb at a time this way.

Re: Question: 2 Elite dual tuners
just like Arbor said the dpplus lnb and the seperator is your best option. It should be no big deal since your already aimed right all you would have to do is switch the lnb and run the second cable down to the bedroom

Yes, but then to use full tuner capabilities on both, I would have to run both of them loop through to tuner two, which would also not give me full tuner capabilities, correct?
Or would I run two cables into the house (already there) then use two DPP separators (already have them on hand) to split each cable coming in for full dual tuner on each STB? Or do the separators notwork that direction???

Re: Question: 2 Elite dual tuners
total of 2 seperators 1 per box. So run 1 line from the dpplus into the dp seperator and the 2 outs to each tuner. This will allow you dual tuner capabilities. Do the same for the other box

So one line from the LNB into the house to a separator, then two lines out of the separator into one STB? Then do the same thing with the other line and box?
Also, if I ended up doing it my way, would the limitations on the second STB be at the channel level, or at the sat level. In other words, if I'm testing 110/119 coming into the the first STB, would the second STB be able to get all channels on 110/119 or just the channel that the master STB is getting?
And with your way and the DP pro, I would have a LNB in left over for a second dish, right?
