FOUND: The Program Search Function!!!
<doing Snoopy dance with my supper dish...>
Finally figured out how to get to the Program Search. Pressing the Green button brings up the program classification screen, as in the last post. Once that is up, then you can press the Red button to bring up the search input window. Type in whatever you want and hit 'Search'.
It actually works pretty well -- with one extra feature I had not expected. It does not just search the program title field, but the 'Information' field as well. That means, for example, that you can search not only for a word in the title of a movie, but also for a name of one of the movie's stars as well! If you are a real movie buff, you can even search on the year of release. Or 'Montana'. Or whatever you want.
Bear in mind that it is what we in computer land call a 'stupid' search, and there is nothing wrong with that as long as you realize that it blindly looks for a match with the sequence of characters you type in, and that match must be absolutely exact.
By way of example, suppose you want to search for any movies starring Hugh Grant, so you enter 'GRANT' as the search term. If there are any places where Hugh is listed in the Information, it will find him. And also Amy Grant. And immigrant. And granted. (You get the idea). In this case, you might actually be better to search for 'HUGH'.
And in case you are wondering, searching for 'HUGH GRANT' (with a space between the names) will sometimes work and sometimes not. If the person who created the descriptive information accidentally put two spaces between the names, or typed 'H. Grant', or misspelled Hugh, nothing will turn up.
I really wanted this feature, and now it's even more thorough than I had expected. Cool!!
