2 Elites, one dish, no joy!
So My setup as of today:
D500, 2 Legacy LNB's running in to two 4x1 switches on port 1 and port 2 of each switch, 2 cables coming into the house, one cable to each Elite.
This setup worked when I had just one Elite setup with two tuners, so I know that the connections and settings are right.
Connected the second Elite up, and did the setup exactly like I have on the other Elite. When I am running one Elite, then turn on the other, the first one looses signal. Sometimes I can get both to get picture, but it's flakey. Basically only one STB will work at a time. It seems like there isn't enough power to run both boxes with the Legacy LNB's I'm running. Anybody have an idea waht it might be? It sure seems like a power problem. Maybe change over to DP pr DPP LNB's might help? Maybe an inline power source? I only have about 50'-75' of RG6 coming into the house, so it's not a problem there.

Has no one tested this yet? Am I braving new ground?
An update: I can get them both to work, but while recording on one of them, the picture is really jumping an freezes for a half second a lot. Still seems like a power problem.

Re: 2 Elites, one dish, no joy!
swapping out the legacy lnbs with a dish pro plus lnb would solve this problem. 1 line for each stb, combined with dpp separators to feed both tuners.-recommended.
alternatively, you could try high grade diseqc's such as chieta's heavy duty 4x1's.they run about 10 bucks each.
Chieta Heavy Duty 4x1 Diseqc Switch

thanks guys.
oh and i forgot.make sure to ground your diseqc's and make sure they do not touch eachother also.in fact try this before upgrading to higher quality diseqc's.
but the DPP with separators is the way to go buddy.

ddplus lnbs is the best and easiest option and you wont need any 4x1 switches.

I figured that the DPP's would work better, as they are of a newer design. I have a DP, and a DPP on it's way as well as another set of Legacy Duals.
I'll try grounding the diseqc's as they are not grounded at this point. If that doesn't work, I'll try the DPP and DP for 3 sats.
Is it true that if I run a DPP, with a DP on another dish going into the LNB in, I can only get 1 additional sat and not two sats? This is one reason I was going to go with the Legacy duals as I know I can get 4 sats out of them with the two dishes.
