How to delete single recordings ?
If I press OK on a selected file it right starts playback.
Is there a way to delete recorded files, with factory V0104 or V0103?

Re: How to delete single recordings ?
Open the Main Menu, and go to PVR -- USB Drives. Select the SVHD_Video folder and press OK. From the pop-up menu, select Enter and press OK. You are now in the place where video stream recordings are kept (unless you have manually moved them).
At this point, you can select any recording by name and press OK. A pop-up menu will appear with several choices, one of which is Delete. Selecting Delete and pressing OK will first double-check with you to ensure you really want to erase, then will perform the deletion.
Other useful items on that pop-up menu are Playback, Rename, and Move.

Re: How to delete single recordings ?
Thank you SystemDude.
The problem is not finding the file but rather the pop-up menu expected to appear when pressing OK. The pop-up menu does not show up at all, and the playback of the selected file starts at once, without giving me any choice. I had this problem with factory V0104. SV support suggested installing V0103 which I did over the weekend, but I do not see any change.
I could see the pop-up menu and use the Delete (and other functions) for files that have an extension (files copied to the hard disk from the PC or single STB frames recorded with the capture key), but not for regular recordings.
What I would like to know is whether this problem is associated with factory V0103 (it should work - according to SV support) or is related to my specific box, setup or hard disk (I believe not - but who knows...)
So, if someone is using or testing with factory V0103, can you please check this and let me know?
Thanks

Re: How to delete single recordings ?
Well, so much for the simple solutions..... sheesh.....
I have a very recently-purchased Elite and I have not experienced this symptom. One thing I would like to know, however, is what format you used on your hard drive. Everyone I know has used the FAT32 format so as to be compatible with their Windows computers for file exchanges, but the SV folks seem to imply that the EXT format (used with Linux) is the default.
A quick way to check if this is somehow related to the problem would be to see if you can substitute a USB memory stick for the hard drive. By trying a decent-sized stick, you can experiment with formatting and other settings to see if the problem can be further localized, but will not risk losing your already-recorded PVR data.
Also, are the video stream files actually landing in a folder named "SVHD_Video"? That's the only place they go on mine (unless I move them, of course).
As far as the versions go, I and most of the folks on here are running modified firmware that deals with DN and BEV issues. To my knowledge, this firmware (currently at version V0149 for Elite) is created by adding code to a "standard" firmware package which is presently either V0103 or V0104 (more likely the former). The added code is not supposed to modify the STB's behavior in any way other than to deal with those specific providers. But since I have not experienced this issue, I would tend to draw the conclusion that it is not something related to firmware.

Re: How to delete single recordings ?
So far, the simple solution – not very convenient - is to format the hard drive.
I use FAT32 and also tested this with Ext2 format for the hard drive; no change in behavior. The STB fails to Ext2 format my 512MB memory stick and refuses to find it at all after this attempt. (I then need to format with my PC to revive it).
The recordings indeed go into the SVHD_VIDEO folder, while the captured image files go to the CAPTURE_SCREEN folder (.bmp files).
I am located outside the visibility of DN and BEV satellites and I do not want to use third party code that may lead to lose of SV warranty (for nothing).
In my opinion - based on what I learned from this forum – the third party firmware versions do include more than a few - bug corrections, improvements and new features, when compared with the current factory firmware. I will refer here to two of them:
1. The TV type or TV standard can not be changed from NTSC to PAL on V0103 and V104 as confirmed by SV support (they say it should be solved within the next version). According to a note with V0141P bin, a feature to change this selection during standby was added, implying that this feature is supported – at least starting with that version. Also I noticed in this forum requests for help related to loss of TV picture sync (running frames) due to accidental change of the NTSC / PAL setting. These problems came out to be resolved by reverting to the NTSC selection, indicating that this functionality was added or repaired with the third party bins.
2. A Channel Copy feature is frequently mentioned in relation to easy transfer of channels scanned already with one tuner to the other. I did not find such an option on my unit or in the manual.
Coming back to my “recordings delete” issue, it looks like – statistically – NO ONE is using factory firmware and therefore – no complains. It also may be that nobody is reading this thread - except you and me.
According to SV support, the Delete works correctly with V0103 (interesting why it got corrupted with V0104).
A “third party” – independent - check of the actual behavior of V0103 will clarify this and may lead to solving my problem.
So WHERE ARE YOU ALL V0103 USERS ???
I need your help!

Re: How to delete single recordings ?
my elite has been working perfectly since the day i got it. i am running version 148p since i am watching dn,149p for b3v. if you don't have the channel copy feature under menu-insallation,then something is missing from the software on your box or not working. see what happens when the next file comes out or contact sv and tell them your software is messed up and what you can do. if new trade for another one. since i have had no problems with my box this is all i can add.

Re: How to delete single recordings ?
s2byus:
I whole-heartedly concur with your decision not to mess with the firmware if you don't need the decoding stuff. If nothing else, your warranty remains intact.
I was completely unaware that the coders who customize the box firmware also were undertaking bug remediation, but in retrospect I guess it makes sense, at least until the manufacturer starts releasing some updates. I knew that they had added code to support the DP and DPP styles of LNB's in addition to the decode-and-roll stuff, but the rest of the info you mentioned was a total surprise.
For what it's worth, I have received above-average treatment from the SV tech support folks, even when I accidentally slipped and revealed that I was working with a "modified" box. Hopefully they really are working their way through the lists of anomalies that I and others have sent to them. I still like the box, but would like it a lot more if it were a tad more reliable.

Re: How to delete single recordings ?
SystemDude:
Thanks for the encouragement.
I like the box too, however, in view of an additional problem reported to SV support and replied by them about a month ago that "should be corrected with the next firmware update” and still waiting for a solution, I rather tend to agree with some comments made here, in the “report your pvr results here” thread, by big frank.
Meanwhile, a factory V0103 user may show-up, who knows?

Re: How to delete single recordings ?
Indeed. Being a programmer myself, at times like this I wish I could lift the lid and mess around with the code myself, if for nothing more than the adventure and personal satisfaction. But alas I will have to wait with everyone else for the official fixes to come out. Truly don't understand why the big delay......
