Partion hd for sv360 and Mac use

I just got a sv360 Elite, and I'm here to say, Love it! So far so good. Got everything up and running, all sats in, hd (Simpletech 750gb) recording duel, and time shifting, and it rocks!

My question is, if someone with the know could help me out, I got the super big drive so I can use it for computer back up too. Can I make a partion, so the PVR recordings, and the computer files are separated?

Many thanks for the input!

Get this receiver people!

Thankyou! Actually, I formated in fat32 when I took it out of the box, after reading the forums saying that the SV records on to fat32 with no problems. Do you have a suggestion of, out of 750, how much I should give the comp back up side?

Congrats on your selection of the Elite -- I have had one for a couple of months and am extremely happy with the features.

My experience has been that SD video files in the format used on the Elite use approximately 1.5 Gb per hour or recording. By default, the time-shifter keeps up to 2 hours of data, so you need to reserve 3 Gb for it.

Therefore, if you want to allow storage for, say, 100 hours of video, you would want to reserve roughly 153 Gb for the STB. That would be 50 two-hour movies, plus the shifter file. You can scale up or down accordingly.

And don't forget your Elite can use music and photo files off the hard drive as well.

Good viewing!

well the nice thing with the big drives you can record and each movie is about 2-3 gigs so you will have lots of room .. just figure it out and the rest you can use on your computer ....

they actually sell a usb hub that you can have hooked up to the computer and the 360 at the same time .. neat
