setup for standard (non dp lnbs) for both tuners.
I've read the posts (some very long.. <lol>) And Arbs how to for the seperator. And I just have on question before I run to by the separator. I was giddy last night with the no problem set up of this system, then I tried to record on one sat, and watch another but got limited to the sat I was recording on. I have 119, 110, and 148, 3 dishes (I know, I need to get a 500 and get with the times. My backyard looks like a starwatch out post!) anywho, 3 dishes running into a 4 port disq switch. Thus one line coming in. Just to clarify, After I split that one line to 2 lines for tuner 1 &2 on the box, can I then record on 148, and watch 119, 110, visa-versa, yadda yadda, we are all happy now...?
Thankss for the help!!
PS) I tried the manuals Loop through set up, (Just tring to work it out this morning) but I did it with a rg59, and I don't even know if that is the "loop through cable" <lol>

Re: dpp separator
ah ok.
well you don't need to upgrade to dish 500's.
well no,you will be very restricted doing this like that.(not really good).
first.are each of the lnbs all duals? meaning do they each have 2 ports?
oh,and ditch the rg59
and you will not(cannot) use a dpp separator with this setup no.

Re: dpp separator
you cannot splitt the single line coming into the house, but hook that single line coming in to tuner one and use the loop thru setting and get another small coax cable and connect it to the lower fitting below tuner one fitting and run it to tuner two witch is the top one to the right.
go back into dish setting all should be single, connection type-loop thru and change diseqc settings to how you have them. loop thru should be good till you get something else going on your roof

Re: dpp separator
Ok I think I got it working. I don't know why the cable didn't work this morning, but now I'm coming in to tuner 1 from my outside switch, and then cable (Will change to rg6 shortly) from out tuner 1 to in tuner 2, and tada, this time, for whatever reason, I can record on tuner # and watch any sat on the other tuner! Yay! This is a nice, easy set up in my mind, so long as I don't run into any glitches. Tried recording a 148 channel, and a 119 channel, and worked great. Many thanks to all for your help and tips! Abadss is the first place I look for info and advice.

Re: dpp separator
Ok. I ran into the glitch that I didn't knock on wood for.
It was working great, but sometimes, like tonight, I was recording, and have tried different things over and over, but I am getting stuck on the same sat agian. No matter what I try, as soon as I hit record, I'm limited to that sat. No one has play with the settings, and last night I was recording on 2 different sats with no problem... Any thoughts??
Many thanks!!

Re: dpp separator
when you are recording one tuner make sure you switch to the other tuner when you want to watch something else

Re: dpp separator
That was one of the things I was trying. sat button, tuner 1,make sure echo pack, record, then sat button, tuner 2, select echo pack, change channel, stuck on recording sat. Then I tried sat button, tuner 1, then actual sat, echo 1,2, record, then sat button, tuner 2 and picked echo 7, but still went to the first 1,2 channel (471).
Heres the main thing that I notice. When it was working, when you hit the sat button, the sat that was being recorded on would just list that sat. (all channel, echo 1,2, echo pack, bev pack.) and then when you went to the tuner 2 side, it listed everything normal, all channel, 8x, 7, 1-2, echo pack, bev pack. And when it did that, I could got to any sat while it was recording. Tonight when I hit record, both tuner list show only the first list I put (1,2)
I have now tried shutting down everything with back switches, box and drive, but still no go.... I just don't get it... <lol>

Re: dpp separator
go back into dish settings and see if the connection type did not change out of loop through.

Re: dpp separator
Yup all still loop through, and right ports. Not that this has change since it was working, but I have the sats on the tuner 2 list with the same ports as what is on the main line. Is that correct, or should that diseqc setting be off for that tuner? I'm trying to think of what has changed, but I'm not hitting on anything yet...

Re: dpp separator
try deleting all channels and sats off of tuner two and do a channel copy in the installation menu

Re: dpp separator
im not sure how you where able to view 2 birds at once with 1 line coming in from legacy lnbs.
if you have two ports each you will want to combine a port a piece from both lnbs into a diseqc.
so 119's legacy lnb port 1-into port one of a diseqc.
port 2 of 119's lnb into port 1 of another diseqc.
repeat for 110's lnb bringing both ports into port 2 of the diseqc's.
now run a line out of both diseqc's into tuner one and tuner two of the sv.
so two lines going into house.just like your feeding two stbs.its just the sv 360 E holds both in one case. (tuners)
and you now have 100% complete independent control of channels/and birds with your setup.
the loop through is just suppin to do to get you by while your setting things up.its nothing you want to keep that way,or your kinda wasting your money for a dual tuner imho.
now if you hang another dish with 2 more legacy lnbs for 91/82 you would just plug into ports 3/4 of both diseqc's see? then you would have all 4 birds feeding both tuners and totally free to record and watch simultaneously also.
that's how you hook up a dual tuner with legacy's.pretty simple.but you need 2 diseqc's.
dual(not twin)lnbs and two lines.very easy.
