Newbie first setup woes
Hi all, first time post (pop), new to FTA.
I did my due diligence and searched and read everything I could find for setup, but am still not seeing any channels show in scans.
Here's my info:
Sonicview Elite
Just grabbed the new charlie d/l update as of 1hr ago
Dish is a Dish 500 18" dish, using a invacom quad lnbf
Sat settings: Echostar 8,X
LNB Type: (tried them all but..) Single
LNB Freq: 11250
Transponder 12224
Diseq Port 1
I'm seeing good sat strength in the 60-70's, same as I got with Dish, but the Quality marker is pegged at 0 and on channel scan I'm getting nada, not even scrambled looking channels..
Any ideas?
Thanks guys,
JG in rainland USA

Re: Newbie first setup woes
Heh, thanks. After seeing so many posts of people getting reamed for not reading up and learning before asking, I really tried to make sure I wasn't a total noob. Even pressed the blue button after installing the key and hard booted and all that. It was really a bummer to get nada after trying so hard to be good. Think I'll try tuning the sat better tomorrow morning if no one has any ideas by then.
My total newb question I guess would be, if the new key was bad, wouldn't we at least still see scrambled channels, instead of nothing?

Yes indeed....
Signal strength is better than nothing but it doesn’t mean to much, as you may get it even when aiming your dish to the roof, to another house or to mother earth .
Scrambled and quality is a much better starting point.
Always aim for best quality .

if you have no quality that means your ports are not set right or you are not hitting the bird you are setting up for.

Re: Newbie first setup woes
Just to let everyone know, I went to a friends house with my unit and hooked to his sat. My box performed perfect. Therefore letting me know my dish was simply not aligned properly. Thanks for all the help
