Newbie with a few questions.
Hello all, been doing some reading on the site (I'm a newbie to the site and the fta community) and still have alot of questions. If I ask the wrong thing or am out of line, please do not hesitate to bash me or let me know, again, I am new to the whole fta thing, so here goes. First off, we are talking about a 360 Elite and a 360 Premier (both receivers) with a Dish 500 dish and a quad circular Lnb, there is a duel linear Lnb available if needed if it will work w/ that dish ( though some modification will be needed to get the Lnb on to the dish arm, no bracket) Finding pretty good signals from several sats, just have to tweak for quality. So here are my questions, and please be patient with me,
I'm extremely fta and computer illiterate
1) What would one have to do in order to get more than just true fta channels?
2) What will getting a paid membership get me? And which paid subscrip is best to have?
3) Is the new iHub necessary to get channels from other than true fta?
4) Have been searching the the web and there are alot of other forum sites out there that want you to pay them (join) to get the fixes (downloads) necessary to get the most programming available. So why should one pay this site? I mean no offense by this question, I just don't know anything about this site or the others, and some of the others are offering lifetime memberships at a cut rate price.
5) bought an out dated download and couldn't open the file, (I'm running on a 64 bit vista system and computer is telling me it cannot open the file) Is this what it means to unzip a file and if so what am I doing wrong?
Well, I hope my questions aren't too annoying as I'm sure they have been asked and answered many times over. I just couldn't find the answers by searching (again, computer illiterate), so I'm sorry if they are stupid ones and if they are inappropriate. I'm sure I will have more to ask. Thanks for any help at all.

Re: Newbie with a few questions.
Ok, I will try to answer as many of your questions as I can..
1. Right now, you will need one of the STB's that uses IKs (Nfusion), Ihub, (Sonicview), or Khub (Kbox), VIA internet connection
2. Get our VIP membership, you will be glad later, great files and downloads only available for VIP members
3. The Ihub can be used to get hooked up to a server that helps you get Charlie and BEV
4. The payment here is not for the Files or help, it helps keep the servers running and taken care of. We have eleven servers, (I think, maybe more now) to help keep ABA running when others are down due to high traffic
5. You will need Winzip or Winrar, file extractors, to unzip all files...
No questions are inapropriate here at ABA. We want to help, teach, and guide you with all your interests. ABA staff, Helpers, and members really enjoy the hobby, and take great pride in helping all our members. Join us, you will like us...

Thanks for the response jc, much appreciated. So having a Sonicview is apparently a good thing, and an iHub is not necessary for use, unless Charlie or Bev is desired. Btw, what is Charlie and Bev? Also, spending a little green would help with unlocking more programming? Which isn't a bad thing, been thinking of joining V.I.P. but don't want to waste money, things are tight around here, like everywhere else, and there is nothing to watch, so getting a little desperate. Will also need to download Winzip or Winrar? Will start working on that right now, but hope that no problems arise, have noticed that with a 64 bit operating system, certain programs are not available because they have not caught up to speed yet or have not figured in for a 64 bit system. I have a couple more questions already (sorry):
1) Have noticed others on the web offering N3 fixes as of 7/3/09. Are these real fixes? I know nothing about this and have seen nothing on this site to that effect, all I know is I've been reading here about systems being down right now because of N3 and now is not a good time to break into the fta world and get set up. Which would suck since have already thrown down some bucks on a system (3 receivers) and would really like to get it working.
2) Is a flash drive good enough to download onto the 360 Elite (and Premier too) or is hooking up to the comp.via cable the better or only way to do this?
There's more questions to come, but for now will work on getting Winzip or Winrar and then maybe upgrading to V.I.P. Btw, only looking to get sats 119, 110 and I think 1 other not sure. And of course FTA. Thanks again and so far learning quite alot!

Re: Newbie with a few questions.
Use the flash stick for Sv-360 Elite and Premier, so much easier. When you sign up for VIP, we have link to FREE winrar. BEV = Bell Express Vue, canadian Sat provider, and Charlie = Dish Network, we refer to them as sister sites. They use a lot of same type encryption coding. Check this out...

So I am going to need the iHub to get what I want to see. Would like to get Charlie if possible. I guess that means an iHub for each receiver and then all the cable needed to hook up all 3 boxes to the computer, huh? Well, can't afford to get even one iHub right now and sure wished had been told of this before purchasing. Sure would like to get some sort of programming tonight, like the race down in Daytona. Hate to miss that tonight. Anyway to download a fix to the Elite or Premier and get some programming tonight without an iHub? Last I looked, they were around a c-note and will have to wait just to get 1 much less 3. And I can't thank you enough for all the education.
