Roscoep's Ihub still not working - out of Ideas
People, I'm hoping someone might just have an answer for me. I have the Ihub and SV Elite hooked up to a WBR 2310 Dlink router and a laptop running Vista SP2.
I have followed the Ihub Manual explicitely and according to it's instructions, it should be working. The router port light is blinking about every 18 seconds with a blink in the tan Ihub light. I have the router set to only 2 addresses to keep DHCP from moving them. 192.168.1.100 is hooked to the Ihub and the router reports this as WIZ1x0SR000000 and Mac address of 00.00.00.00. The other port 192.168.1.101 is hooked to the wireless and the router reports Computer name and Mac address. Portforward reports port 1920 open on wireless .101 and when I unplug the cat5 cable from the Ihub and plug it into the computer's ethernet port. Port forward reports .100 is open also. Oh yes, the Ihub reports it is connected on the STB and the IP config menu is there and looks like Ihub manual examples. I have a Linksys wireless router coming to try, although I don't see anything wrong with the Dlink. Anybody see anything I have overlooked? I'm plain out of ideas. Thanks in advance. Roscoep

Re: Roscoep's Ihub still not working - out of Ideas
try using the static in the set up menue. and turn off DSN. this will automatically put in a IP address. i've had mine running this way for a week or so and running good with minimal amount of freezing.

Re: Roscoep's Ihub still not working - out of Ideas
I'm still unsure about you not having a mac address for your Ihub. Where did you buy it?
Give this a try buddy. will only take a minute. Log into your router and select "Advanced" then on the left "Firewall Settings" In the DMZ host section at the top, From the "computer name" drop down, select the WIZ1 (ihub) then click on the "<<" to pop it's IP into the box on the left, and then select "always" on the right side drop down. check the "enable DMZ" box. Save Settings. your router may reboot, if it does you should get a countdown. once the countdown completes: Do a hard reboot (back rocker switch) of your Sonicview. when it comes back up, flip to a working channel (food network) and give it a minute. The DMZ or Demilitarized Zone bypasses all means of protection from the router(firewall etc..), your box is now fully exposed to the internet. if your ihub is setup correctly, and good, you are now going to see results. |

Re: Roscoep's Ihub still not working - out of Ideas
I have tried static with DNS and without DNS, also DHCP. did hard receiver reset after each change. I have also tried the DMZ before, but tried it again letting the WIZ select the ip address. Still scrambled.
It's really frustrating, as all the channels show good Q, the time left for that pgm and the EPG is listed for several days - everything looks good except it is still scrambled. I think I will check the RS232 port on the STB and make sure all the pins are connected. The Ihub came together with the Elite receiver. I read somewhere where the Ihub does not have a true Mac address, so that is why it shows all zeroes. I'm not sure what you mean by bridging. I have DSL and the Westell modem is PPPoe bridged to the Dlink router. Thanks and keep the ideas coming. roscoep |

Leave your settings at the recommended settings and try a reboot of all devices.
Unplug modem, router, firewall, stb. (or anything else connected to the network) Then wait a min and plug them back in. Modem first, then router and so on,,, Power up the stb and see if that changes anything.

Re: Roscoep's Ihub still not working - out of Ideas
Just got done doing that! No change. I dug around and found an RS232 Port checker and it says the Ihub IS working - pin 2 TX data Green (-12v) Pin3 Receive Data Green with occasional instant flash to red meaning data transferred. Pin3 clear to send Red (+12 v.
This puts me back to the bin files of which I have done before. 1. Factory Default, 2. load cleaner, 3. load Jan 8 2009 bin file, 3. Scan channels, 4. Load Ihub bin, 5. then plug in ihub, 6. Check Ihub settings, 7. Hard reset, Then I would be happy to see about 30 seconds before freezing. Anything I forgot? Thanking you in advance. Roscoep |
