Elite 360 problem

I just switched from a cs7000 to the svElite. I noticed that some of my channels are scrambled. It seems to be random blocks of channels on different transponders. Mostly around the ppv channels.

Here's an example:

502 Ok
503 Scrambled
504 Scrambled
505 Ok
506 Scrambled
507 Scrambled
etc...
520 Ok
521 Ok
etc...

This is where it gets weird. When I get to a scrambled channel if I go into the menu > dish settings and exit, the channel comes up!!!!! So do all the other "blocks" of scrambled channels. If I change to a channel that was already working and go back (Like 502 then back to 503) they're all scrambled again and I have to do it all over again!!!!!!!!!! Menu > dish settings > exit.

I've tried a factory reset and rescan but still no change. Anyone have any ideas or having this same problem?

Re: Elite 360 problem

it seems that your having problems between both sats. 502 is echo 7, 503 & 504 is echo 8. Are you using any switches? have you checked for loose cables including the ones on the lnbs?

Re: Elite 360 problem

It's definitely there. When I go to the menu > dish settings and exit it comes in. If it wasn't there then it shouldn't come in at all.

Here are my settings:

Tuner 1
Satellite EchoStar 8,X 110W
Connection Separate
LNB Type OCS-DP
LNB Freq 11250
22Khz Off
LNB Power On
Transponder 12224
Search Opt All
Ntwk Search On
Diseqc Port 2
Motor Disable
Legacy sw Off

Tuner 1
Satellite EchoStar 7 119W
Connection Separate
LNB Type OCS-DP
LNB Freq 11250
22Khz Off
LNB Power On
Transponder 12224
Search Opt All
Ntwk Search On
Diseqc Port 1
Legacy SW Off

I am using a cheetah switch to combine 110,119 & 91. All was fine with my cs7000. Good signal, good quality and all channels came in fine. Although I am planning on removing it and connecting a dp plus twin lnb so I can run two lines to my stb. I'm doing that Saturday morning when the attic is not so hot. I'll report back with my findings.

I sure hope that's all it is!

Re: Elite 360 problem

ok if your gonna use a dpplus lnb you dont need to run 2 cables into your house. All you have to do is pick up a dp seperator and run 1 cable to the switch (behind the reciever) and 2 cables out to the box. In the settings you will change the lnb type to seperator adjust all your other settings and scan both tuners. If you need further help let me know

My unit does something vaguely similar, but I assumed it was just a quirk associated with the autoroll or key software or something. Sometimes I can channel-switch up and down and a previously unavailable channel pops in. Or switch to the other tuner. Tonight I just let it sit on a "dead" channel for maybe ten minutes and it popped in.

I have noticed also that many times the message "no signal" comes up on a channel on a transponder frequency that I know darned well is alive and kicking. Here I presumed that it was really trying to tell me that it could not decode (i.e. - "scrambled") but just got the status message wrong.

And (maybe this is related and maybe it's not) I have not been able to receive about half of the PBS channels for maybe a week or so. I'm pretty sure they were all there before. I kinda assumed (there I go again) that if the key worked for one DN group, it worked for all.

Life is a learning experience, but my head is hurting......

Question Re: Elite 360 problem

I have similar troubles with both my Sonicviews 360 Elite & 4000.
But always seem to be able to work around it by channel jumping.

I have a problem with PPVs on the 360 Elite.
I get everything on 110 except the PPVs???

I want to run a second cable because I was told by a DN installer friend of mine that the plus needs both outputs occupied or there will be signal problems. Plus I don't have a separator but I do have lots of cable.

Re: Elite 360 problem

SystemDude
Mine says "No Service or Scrambled" when I switch to it. The sigal meeter shows good signal. I let it sit for at least 20 min and it never came in.

This affects my recordings because I don't know if the channel is going to be "on" or not when it starts to record.

Same thing here. It's agravating when you are trying to record and then find out the channel doesn't work.

Re: Elite 360 problem

I read a post where someone had that problem and it was being caused by a switch. I am using a switch to combine 100,119 and 91. I'm removing it this weekend. We'll see what happens.

My setup is the "classic": a DPPlus for 119/110 and a single dish/TP for 91, run into the LNB-IN. From the DPP I currently have two cables run to my Elite, although my future plans involved using a separator and running the second downline to a second receiver.

I have good Q's on pretty much everything (mostly 90-100, a couple at 40-50). Seems to be a very unpredictable situation with the decoding.

Re: Elite 360 problem

I am having a familiar problem, I am missing all but three PPV,s when I scan. I think my problem is 110. I even do a tp scan for the missing channels and still dont get them. I did get some missing channells once on TP 12414, they lasted about two hours and then say no signal. I had a VS Ultra before this 360 Elite and no problems got everything. I put the Ultra in the bed room and still getting all channels. My signal on both Sats is about 76. I have a Superdish just 110, 119 with a DP34 switch. Sv360 Elite, VS Ultra and regular dish ******k reciever with subscription. Only having problems is the 360. I have factory reset several times and loaded both factory and newest update sevral times. Still same outcome. Getting frustrated because I had no problems with VS made the cahnge and WOW!!!!!! Here are my settings.

Tuner 1
Satellite EchoStar 8,X 110W
Connection loop-through
LNB Type OCS-DP
LNB Freq 11250
22Khz Off
LNB Power On
Transponder 12224
Search Opt All
Ntwk Search On
Diseqc Port 2
Motor Disable
Legacy sw Off

Tuner 2
Satellite EchoStar 7 119W
Connection Loop- through
LNB Type OCS-DP
LNB Freq 11250
22Khz Off
LNB Power On
Transponder 12239
Search Opt All
Ntwk Search On
Diseqc Port 1
Legacy SW Off

Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One fabulous resource for cross-referencing birds, transponders, and channels is LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite. One of these evenings I am going to sit down with a yellow pad, a pen, and a coffee and see if I can document a correspondence between the channels I am having trouble with, and their transponder frequencies. That might give me some basis for a little fine-tuning of my dish aim or something. In any case, I will know more than I know now.....

Well... So much for that idea! This is the exact setup I was going to implement this weekend. Oh well. I'll still do it just in case I end up switching to a dual tuner vs.

Re: Elite 360 problem

Success!!!

I removed the Chieta switch and installed a dp plus twin. I have 91 connected to port 3 and the two output ports run directly to the stb.

I rescanned all satellites on both tuners and ALL IS FINE!!! PIP works, all channels selectable. Dual recording on both tuners working. And most of all no more "scrambled/not scrambled" channels.

This is the same setup as SystemDude but mine seems to be glitch free...so far. I will update thread if something changes.

Hope this works for others having this issue.

A sincere congratulations -- always a good feeling when your plan works out. It was largely on the advice of the good folks on here that I chose my rooftop equipment.

When my channel status is not "scrambled", my picture is fabulous. Maybe I need to scare away a few pigeons or something. In any case, it's a heck of a step up over my old rabbit ears, so I am not really complaining. I will try some fine-tuning when time allows.

es, fine tuning will probably help. Not sure what quality you are getting, but I know today, I fine tuned mine, and doubled the quality to near 100%. I seem to have less problems and the channels come up quicker. Probably will help when the weather get's bad also.
